Don't worry - you'll never be ready Smile

Doesn't mean you won't enjoy it when they get here though. Snuggling my 2 week old and 2.5 year old while I write this.

I didn't feel prepared for either of them (2nd one was less of a shock to the system than the first though).

kchapper5 · 08/12/2013 15:30

5 weeks left for me if i got 2 weeks over. I vary from oh god, get out of me and get here now baby, to ARGHHH i can't be a mum that's way too scary :)

prettywhiteguitar · 08/12/2013 15:31

You won't feel ready until boom they're in your arms and you don't even question it !

You'll be fine ;)

dramajustfollowsme · 08/12/2013 15:40

Agree with everything already said. I had read all the books, had all the stuff needed, looked after lots of young babies. I still wasn't prepared. Just enjoy the peace and get lots of rest and look after yourself. When your baby arrives, you will always feel underprepared but you will learn together and it will be fine.

IWantToBeADragon · 08/12/2013 15:49

kchapper5 Yes! Totally agree with the get out, noooo stay put, i am not ready yet! haha, scary scary stuff! Confused

Thanks everyone else for the reassurance, I am such a planner, you cant plan a baby, well, you can, but you know what i mean, nothing is predictable! I just want to understand how i will feel, how i will cope, how to make myself feel like a mum! Cause atm i just feel like i have an alien dancing about, that i love.. but a real like, REAL mum? Jeeze!! Lol

Df popped in for a cuppa. I was 40+13days. She made the comment

"Just think by the end of the week you will have a baby"

My reply

"What makes you think that."

Really hadn't a clue what she was talking about.
Was I ready. No Way.

2Labradors · 08/12/2013 16:41

I'm 40+9 today, induction booked for Tuesday and I'm not sure I'm ready. I have 2 DC already, they're 10 & 7, so you'd think I'd be a pro but I'm not and I'm not sure I can remember what to do with a newborn. I'm sure this feeling is normal though Smile

Bakerof3pudsxx · 08/12/2013 16:47

I need to stop reading pregnant people threads! I want newborn snuggles!

That said I recently declined cuddles with a friends newborn as I was scared lol, my dd is only 8 months yet the newborn looked so fragile!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 08/12/2013 16:49

I am not sure you ever feel ready. My twins should be here by Christmas and I already have 2dc and I still don't feel ready at all
Good luck op

My DC are 12 & 14.

DC3 is due 4 weeks today, so exactly the same as you, OP. 6 weeks max.
And it's like I've never done this before. Head firmly in the sand!
