I've been feeling pregnant for weeks, last night I finally got a very faint positive!! I was happy but at the same time my heart sunk, and I felt so nervous!! (Even thought it is baby number 3) I told my partner straight away and showed him the test...
A first he couldn't see the line, then he could. He didn't seem too phased!?
I got a hug and that's about it...I was harping on about it alllll night and he just doesn't seem too excited. I can't be excited alone, it makes me anxious and nervous :(
Xx

My partner just laughed and thought I was joking, and when he realised I was serious he too seemed unexcited!
I was gutted but that all changed at 12 weeks, turns out he was terrified of me having a miscarriage and wanted to be the "strong" one lol

Did he react different to previous two pregnancies?

elesx · 07/12/2013 10:59

He didn't really react to the others either. It didn't hit him until I was in labour I don't think! X

I think because men don't go through it it doesn't seem as real til the birth

Mine was a bit "oh!" with DC3 - planned but happened first time which we weren't expecting! Now more excited having had the first scan. It's really theoretical for them until the scan at least as they don't have the benefit of nausea and knackeredness to remind them every day!

1st pregnancy, didn't believe it as the line wasn't as strong as control one. Even though i showed him the instructions and got him to POAS himself to see what a negative looks like. Miscarried at 12 weeks.
2nd pregnancy, decided to go for a jokey "great, all we have to do now is find out who the dad is?". I was not amused. Miscarried at 6 weeks.
3rd pregnancy, gave me a huge hug and sported a huge grin. Finally the "correct" reaction. Miscarried the next day, 8 weeks.
4th pregnancy, by now thoroughly freaked out told me "well don't get your hopes up". Am currently 12 weeks, fingers crossed it sticks. He's still scared but a bit less since we saw the heartbeat at week nine.

Hope all goes well for you this time qazxc

My dh is so laid back he's horizontal. I got up early to get a digital test after a very faint line the previous day. Dh stayed in bed. Result came up positive, woke dh, was told "well done" and he rolled over for a snooze Grin first dc and first month of trying.

He's been amazing during the pregnancy though, and I look back on that morning with fond memories!

I just think men process things differently op, give him time and he might just surprise you.

Oh, and congratulations!!

Mine didn't believe it and made me do two more tests!

Not that excited to be honest, but now bump is moving he has a little chat every night!

elesx · 07/12/2013 18:44

I called DH and told him whist he was out with his friends. He said "have you done a test?" Confused. ahhh no I just guessed! however next thing I knew he had left all is friends, came home, huge bunch of flowers and a bottle of bubbly bubbly still sat in fridge When he saw me he was tearful not a tearful kind of man and just hugged the life out of me.

It was really emotional for both of us but the fact we had mc 6 weeks earlier may have made it more intense for us. 36+2 and his been amazing throughout the pregnancy however he won't touch bump when DD moves. He says "that's a bit freaky. Thats what Alien the move must have based on. I love her but I think I will wait till she ones out." Hmm But, at the same tme he asks very day if she as moved.

My husband was ridiculously laid back about it. All he said was 'okay, that's cool' and went to bed. While I couldn't sleep I had that much running through my head!
