Hi all I just found out I am b strep+ I also have found out through resurch that antibiotics needs to be administered 4hrs before labour, so does this s mean I will be induced? I dont have a problem with being induced as both my girls were late and as I have hemihypertrophy it kinda hurts my spine after carrying a 7lb child at 42weeks. All I want to know is will I be induced or do I have to wait untill im stupid amount of weeks over before they do something about it.

No induction required for me just had to turn up to the hospital when in labour to get antibiotics. If they don't get it all in before you actually give birth them baby will have antibiotics or be monitored.

Oh ok then thankyou. Looks like im going over again then :(

Nope,no induction.
I have very very fast labours usually,so there's hardly any chance of getting 4hrs worth of anti b's into me before the birth, the plan is just to monitor the baby in hosptial for 24hrs afterwards.
No mention of induction at all.

Hi op, same story here, had iv antibiotic in labour, doses administered at intervals, I had two I think and was still able get a water birth, then they just came and visited me and dc on postnatal ward extra times to check temps etc, all was fine but I was reassured as they clearly gave me extra monitoring before discharging us. Didn't bother me other than having to have iv in hand, I don't like them as always think I will pull out by mistake which is of course rubbish! It was very well taped up.

I guess not total rubbish then!! Poor you didn't it bleed everywhere?! Gosh the things we hav to go through for babies. Hope it goes well this time if they use iv and sounds like you have a nice reassuring mw, I think when they show they are listening to your key individual concerns it really helps you relax a bit, I had never heard of strep until they said I had it with dc1, so far neg for it with dc3 and wasn't an issue with dc2 either, certainly needs dealt with in labour if you know you have it, and that's the mw and docs doing a good job taking care of you and dc, best of luck x
