Probably wishful thinking but possibly some action!?

So, 39 and 5 days today, no plug, no waters, this time last week he wasn't engaged. Just walked to the shops with DP, on the way started to feel lots of pressure by the time I got there it was really uncomfortable and I felt like I desperatelybneeded to do a poo! (TMI)

Waddled back and it was getting worse, with dull ache around my back, shooting pains down my legs/bum cheeks and lots of pressure that feels like trapped wind. Went to the loo a bit but not much and the pain didn't let up after.

I've got a hot water bottle on my back now and the pressure doesn't feel so bad now I'm sat down but still having pains down my butt cheek/ leg, so now just waiting to see if it happens again anytime soon!

I'm excited but also a bit scared, I've been desperate to start but that little episode was uncomfortable as hell and not feeling as confident anymore!

Anybody else start like this or is it just wishful thinking? Grin

you should call the hospital/MW and explain your symptoms - it could be the beginning but I'm not sure if leg pain is right (depends on where it is of course)

exciting!

I felt quite a lot of upper thigh pain. Get on all fours over a birthing ball and rock a bit. It gets the baby in the right position

terilou87 · 04/12/2013 20:17

Hopefully things are moving 4 you but agree with zing, bum cheek/ leg pain sounds more like your sciatic nerve , fingers crossed for you that labour is imminent!! Smile

PrammyMammy · 04/12/2013 20:21

It sounds like your babies head has engaged now.
This is exactly what I felt, everything you said. My right leg/thigh is so sore, pressure, needing a poo all the time. I also have increased discharge and when I lay down I can feel baby moving right down in my pelvis.
Look at your bump from the side, does it look smaller?

I had all that a week ago, I spent the rest of the afternoon in bed, feeling horrible and sick. Still nothing's happened. I do still have 2 weeks to go.

everythinghippie29 · 04/12/2013 20:27

Thanks everyone. Think I was getting ahead of myself and maybe he has just shifted!

I thought it may have been my sciatic nerve playing up but with all the pressure I got a bit hopeful!

Still feeling a bit uncomfortable but the pressure has pretty much stopped until I cough and then it feels like I am carrying a watermelon between my buttcheeks! Grin For now the little buggar has hiccups so is obviously not too busy in there!

If it happens again I'll give the midwives a buzz.

Maybe tomorrow...

I am smelling a live birth thread though, please keep updating! Grin

If you stand up and look at your bump in the mirror you might see that it is lower down, like it's dropped and also the top of your bump will feel lower too.
you might feel you can breathe easier. it's sometimes called " lightening" and would mean the baby's head is descended into pelvis (even engaged)

BlackholesAndRevelations · 04/12/2013 20:56

Ooh yes sounds like he's moved down and engaged! First baby? I'm pregnant with my third and it keeps engaging and unengaging Hmm but hopefully yours won't if it's the first!

How exciting Grin

everythinghippie29 · 04/12/2013 21:04

Oooh, just had another pressure/cramping session and had to make a desperate loo dash, didn't last as long as last time but I was out walking in the cold then and now I'm back, cozy in the sofa with my hot water bottle so not sure if that makes a difference!

There was lots of clear 'jelly' and a little bit of blood, so maybe my plug?! Ahhh so glamourous!

Starting to get excited now but don't want to get my hopes up if its just a tummy bug!...DP's boss apparently has tomorrow down on the sweepstakes so DP is hoping its not as he'll never hear the end of it if he's right!

Yes, its my first! Bump looks flatter but not sure if I'm imagining it! His kicks are still popping out of my side though!

I have news for you, it does look like Baby time!

where do yo feel the cramping? where you'd feel period pain?

ZingSweetPea · 04/12/2013 21:11

if you think it's a contraction write down time and duration. it will come handy later

(I still have the paper with DS3, he is 9 tomorrow, but it's lovely to read back!)

everythinghippie29 · 04/12/2013 21:40

Thank you zing I hadn't even thought to do that! I'll give it ago, I'm still not entirely convinced it's happening as nothing seemingly regular yet! I wonder if I'll be fondly scrolling through MN zombie threads in 9 years time! Grin

The pain at the moment seems to be mainly around the bottom of my bump, around my back with a lot of pressure in my back/bum. At the moment it is a bit of a throbbing sensation that ties in with his movements.

I've had achy period pains a few days this week but no real pressure like this.

Wide awake all night (nothing new there) but only some very mild period type pain, generally nothing else.

What a big fat disapointment I am! Blush

Going to spend today bouncing on my ball and hiking up and down the stairs! He's due on Friday and I'm a stickler for punctuality! Grin

Good luck! :)

ZingSweetPea · 05/12/2013 08:39

how are you today?

the period type pains are definitely the cervix ripening - that will kick off at some point and turn into contractions.

the pressure is most likely baby's head - that's good.
gravity is your friend, I found that kneeling and resting upper body on a chair is a good position - you are upright-ish, but less tiring than walking/standing.

I suggest you also try and eat little and often and a nap would be most beneficial!

good luck, it's definitely happening!Smile
