Preterm Labour - What do early contractions feel like?

I'm 16+1 and started getting a regular pinching/stabbing sensation slightly to the left of where my cervix should be last week. On a bad day, I would get them every 2-5 minutes and on a good day only 3-5 times a day. 3 days ago the stabbing/pinching moved over to the lower far right where my right ovary should be. The pain is like a fast intense shot, like I'm being stabbed with a small pin, which disappears within a second.

I've been to see the doctor and he has diagnosed an incompetent cervix with cervix length of 2.5 cm and cervix being very slightly open. The doctor tells me the stabbing is early contractions but I'm not sure I agree. Everything I have read about contractions is that they are more of a cramping/pushing sensation with a hardening of the uterus rather than a quick pinch and, in particular, aren't localised to one area. Has anyone else had contractions at this stage who can describe what they feel like?

No contractions are very much a dull ache a lot like period pains and your tummy will tighten up.. tje pains increase.

Braxton pains are very mild period pains with tightening. . They can be uncomfortable but never regular and don't get stronger.

The pinching pains to me sound like what I had with my lligaments pulling .. I hope everything will be ok for you and baby

I was thinking (hoping) it might be round ligament pain but I don't need to be moving to get them, I get them when laying perfectly still as well. Can that be ligament pain as well?
