sorry I know this is very silly question and I should know better but do you count the first day of your period as when you have any kind of tiny barely visible blood however small or only when it arrives in full?

My LMP I only had a tiny bit of barely noticeable blood just once when wiping on one day which resulted in no period and no further blood on that day but the following day it was a full on period - so should my LMP be on that day that only a miniscule hardly there - only just when wiping (sorry for tmi!) day or the following day when it was a full on period?

sorry for the very silly question but any clarification on this would be much appreciated

It is day one when it starts properly with full flow

I've been told that the first day of your period is the first full day of 'flow'. If it starts in the evening or afternoon then count the next day as day 1. It was the fertility department that I was going to that told me that, and they obviously needed to be precise to determine when to start treatment so I presume that's correct!

Based on that the first day of your LMP should be the day that you had a full on period Smile

HTH!

ulitmately it only counts for the first booking appt. when they do your scan they will give you the dates they go with and thats that really.

dont stress, the first scan dates the pregnancy for you..

many thanks everyone - that's really helpful
was never quite sure of that one but that's helped clarify it

I always have a bit of scant bleeding for about a week before my period starts properly. I was unsure but still counted the first full flow day as day 1, but when going for my dating scan my due date was brought forward by a week, which would indicate that day 1 was actually the first day of light bleeding. Doesn't really matter as the scan will tell you anyway- although I was told at my scan that they don't adjust dates unless it is a clear 7 days out.
