No weight gain?!

I'm just over 24 weeks and been really careful with how much I'm eating and quantities. All I've put on so far is half a stone which fluctuates up and down every few days. Should I be concerned for my babies growth? I'm hoping the weight I do/have put on is just the weight of the baby.

I'm jealous, lol. I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and have put on over a stone and a half Grin I couldn't believe it when the scales said I was over 10st Hmm Thankfully it is all bump though and I'm not getting fat anywhere else!!

I wouldn't worry too much, I have read a lot of posts on here where women's weight gain was really minimal. Have you got a midwife appointment coming up soon? They could always mean sure your bump and offer you some reassurance??

VisualiseAHorse · 04/12/2013 12:14

Why are you being so careful about how much you're putting on? Unless you're very overweight to begin with?

This is quite a good sense check for pregnancy weight gain www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

Saw my midwife about this this morning. She said you have to remember baby gets the food first, so not to worry that I've only put on a bloody pound! (15 weeks)

Scheriously · 04/12/2013 12:26

In other words, I'm sure your baby is fine!

marzipanned · 04/12/2013 12:43

At 15 weeks I was still about a stone down thanks to hyperemesis...

Actually half a stone at 24 weeks sounds very reasonable, unless you're underweight before getting pregnant I think it's meant to be 10-15kg for the entire pregnancy.

Flixy102 · 04/12/2013 12:55

I was a bit worried about that too as I have PCOS and struggle to keep weight off but so far I've only put on about 4 pounds and I'm 18+3. Haven't been watching what I eat (haven't been eating more than normal either) but the baby will get all the nutrients it needs as long as your being sensible about whats going in and not denying yourself anything.

K8eee · 04/12/2013 13:15

I haven't been over anal about what I eat apart from obviously not binging on bad snacks everyday and having takeaways. Am trying to make sure I have 3 meals a day and am drinking plenty. The measurements of the baby at 20 week scan were good and healthy, the only thing I am a bit worried about is gestational diabetes but I'm being screened for that in a few weeks (diabetes runs in my side of the family Hmm)

Shall take a look at the link posted :) I don't think I am particularly over weight. I'm naturally curvy (have bum, small waist and hips) but weighed between 11-11 and a half stone pre pregnancy, my BMI wasn't too high for my height I don't think; I'm 5 ft 6.

FLIXY YOU'RE PREGNANT!!! I'm so happy!! (Before I sound like a complete and utter lunatic - I used to be Summer in the hut, way back when - am now 31 weeks) Was always hoping you'd get your good news too Grin Grin Grin

Flixy102 · 04/12/2013 13:51

Haha summer, from waaaay back on the infertility boards! Congrats to you too, so glad we both got there in the end. That thread seems to have died now, wonder how everyone else is getting on!

Rockchick1984 · 04/12/2013 15:35

I think that's about right to be honest as you were slightly overweight to start with (pre pregnancy I was 11st, 5'7" and BMI only just the right side of normal/overweight) so you should gain 15-25lbs over the full pregnancy.

As long as you're not restricting your food intake and allowing yourself to go hungry, just make sure you're having 3 healthy meals a day, snacks if you need them, and you will be fine :)

Tea1Sugar · 05/12/2013 05:23

Jealous! I'm 20 weeks and have put on 12lbs! I was underweight to begin with though and now weigh 9st 2lbs.

K8eee · 05/12/2013 06:08

Well I'm grateful I haven't gone up in dress size, and have stuck to a size 12/14. I guess where I'm eating for one (as expected!) I shouldn't be putting any weight on if baby is taking my food in Smile
