Good luck pumpkin- hope you get some movement before tomorrow. My waters for dc1 went at 8pm and I was in active labour 25 hours later (and had a baby within 30 hours). If you are induced, it's meant to be much quicker than a normal induction as your body/baby are all ready to go.

I think the heartburn is a sign that the baby has popped up again - I've been 2/5, 3/5 and then totally un-engaged at my last three appts, which is apparently normal for second babies, but they can't sweep if they're not engaged. (I've been trying work out why- I know they won't rupture the membranes unless you're fully engaged because of the risk of cord prolapse, but can't find a reason for not sweeping)

I'm also hoping that the on/off cramps I've been having since mid December recently are dilating the cervix, as that will help for a sucessful sweep too. I definitely have not been reading the full NICE guidelines for intrapartum care, no, not a control freak like me

Welcome purple! Can't believe we are onto September babies already. I know it seems an age away, but this is a great thread and will hopefully help you stay sane.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 06/01/2014 11:42

Santa I think you're probably onto something with the cord prolapse, even with just a sweep. Its been years since I had one, but im assuming that by sweeping, they aggravate the membranes and heighten the risk of them rupturing. Once that happens the risk of prolapse if the head is engaged is the same as if they broke your waters and the head wasn't engaged. Better safe than sorry.

banana87 · 06/01/2014 13:11

Good luck pumpkin!

Also fingers crossed Lou for the dreaded 12 week scan, am sure all is fine Smile

Can someone please reassure me? I have slightly (ok maybe more than slightly) sore boobs, hungry all the time, and constantly feel as if I may cry. Almost depressed but don't know why. No nausea. In all my failed pregnancies I had little to no nausea. I'm 5 weeks Fri (maybe, who knows??!!)

banana87 · 06/01/2014 13:12

Forgot to add the extreme exhaustion that made me test in the first place to all that...

bakingtins · 06/01/2014 13:21

Don't worry banana I had pretty much no nausea this time and all fine. I was bone-crushingly tired though, getting better now (18 weeks) but could still cheerfully have an afternoon nap every day.

kjh5 · 06/01/2014 13:28

Hurrah pumpkin! Hope you are ok and the bubba arrives soon

Keeping Fx it isn't too much longer for you either santa

Welcome all newbies.

Banana all those sound like normal pg symptoms. Everyone on here has had wildly varied experiences - some people had no nausea, some had the whole hog. The most important thing to remember is that not everyone gets all the symptoms and the lack of any particular symptom doesn't make you any less pregnant.

Lozul good luck for your scan tomorrow. Everyone on here has experienced that awful scan doom but you will get through it xx

scater · 06/01/2014 13:48

Hi all

Can I join? I am pregnant after losing daughter at 32 weeks last year.
Had a scan at 8+1 and it's twins! Have my proper scan on wed when will be exactly 13 weeks and I am in a mess.

Sickness etc gone which is to be expected but I feel I should have a bigger bump with twins. Feel so sure either one has disappeared or I've had a mmc of both. Stress:(

Louzul · 06/01/2014 14:11

I've had some great news. Perfect 12 week scan, low risk for Downs and everything else. So so happy. Ready to go on the stats board. EDD17th July, 1MC. Grin

scater · 06/01/2014 14:27

Brilliant news Lou, so pleased for you.

Alb1 · 06/01/2014 14:30

pumpkin eek hope things start happening but that's encouraging to hear what santa says about induction after your waters have gone Smile hopefully it'll be a quick sneeze birth for you Grin santa really hope you're next x

nice chair kat that'll make night feeds so much more appealing.

Welcome new ladies Smile

Pixielady83 · 06/01/2014 19:00

scater just seen you are expecting twins- double excitement! we have another lady expecting twins on here too, exciting!

Penguinita · 06/01/2014 19:45

Fingers crossed for you pumpkin.

Welcome purple and scater, good to have you on board. Twins too, how exciting!

Congrats on the scan lou. It must be a huge relief, are you telling people yet?

Going back to work today was hideous. I usually love my job but I think I have emotionally disengaged from it now that I'll be having a year off soon. Maternity leave can't come quickly enough!

And I slipped over in the car park and skinned my knees, felt like a right prat. Especially as health and safety went totally OTT and made me go to the medical centre to get checked out. I think they were worried I might sue them or something Grin

fod27 · 06/01/2014 23:36

Hi guys so I was proved right! My employer does have to pay me whilst I'm at antenatal classes so.... They have opted for another underhanded maneuver (trying to make me take evening classes) so they don't have to pay me! Sneaky bastards! They can sod off!!!

scater I echo what others have said - bearing in mind that beans are only the size of a sultana atm you shouldn't be big, I'm incredibly sorry to hear about your 32 week loss! That must of been horrific, I think your incredibly brave to ttc again. Fx for all to go well this time xxx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 07/01/2014 00:30

FGS! I have just sneezed 6 times in a row. Each time I sneezed I wet myself a little more! Confused

Penguin you have my sympathy. I have to go back to work on Friday. A I am SO not looking forward to it!
I am always falling over. I live in mortal terror of going over and hurting the baby. Sad
Fod dont take any crap from your boss!
Scater welcome. Twins! That's brilliant! Smile

WhatWillSantaBring · 07/01/2014 01:54

A baby Santa elf was born tonight, weighing 8.5lbs... 15 mins after getting to hospital! He is very well but I lost a lot of blood after and had a retained placenta, so lying in bed with the elf asleep on my chest following surgery on me.

I didn't even have time for a paracetamol, let alone a water birth or gas and air, and the midwives let me have 100% control Of pushing, so feel like screaming "I am a woman, hear me roar!!" I never realised how brilliant our bodies can be- feel like I could conquer the world tonight!!

xx

GardenWorm · 07/01/2014 02:18

Oh wow! Just popped in whilst on a feed to see your fab news Cave Woman Santa! Massive congratulations to you on the birth of Elf (lovely name Wink). I had a retained placenta with my first after just gas and air (I'm not so hardcore to have nowt!) it's bloody annoying having to go to surgery and have epidural but they are worth it (and the placenta came out fine with my latest). Enjoy your baby snuggles xxx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 07/01/2014 04:04
