Only 9 weeks with DC2 and already in maternity clothes

Just that. Swapped to maternity trousers for work today as they're so much more comfortable and I've been feeling so fat and bloated :-( I saw a colleague staring at my tummy today (I think some have their suspicions as I was off for a day with v&d last week), but it's surely too early to show, isn't it?

Last time I went into mat trousers around 13 I think but didn't have a proper bump until 16/17. I am, ahem, starting this pregnancy a few pounds (only 4.5!) heavier. And my stomach muscles have never recovered from last time (jelly belly).

Anyone else in mat trousers so early??

PS a colleague (that does know) said the reason I might feel so bloated is that your blood volume has already started to increase by now, is there truth in that? Or could it just be digestive issues?

I am on dc3 and with both dc2 and 3 I was in mat trousers by 7 weeks, my bloating automatically looks like a pregnancy belly :)

I went into maternity clothes really early on with ds2 but I think It evens itself out over the months.

I had a 10ibs baby tho Grin. I was huge by then end!!!

I went into my maternity jeans at around 6 weeks with DC2 and similar to you, I was carrying a bit of extra weight that wasn't there last time. It was purely for comfort due to bloating, bump started to appear around 14ish weeks (similar to last time) and now I'm sporting the 'smuggling a basketball' bump at 32 weeks.

Twins? Grin

theborrower · 02/12/2013 21:00

David - don't, just don't

I had quite a wee bump last time (and a wee baby) so wondering if this is a sign of a big fat bump coming this time...

I started showing much earlier with this pregnancy and then found out why at 12 week scan when they discovered I was carrying twins Grin

But to reassure you it could just as easily be due to it being your second when showing earlier is very common. Remember too that every pregnancy is different so may just be a feature of this pregnancy.

Yup, was wearing maternity clothing at 8 weeks. My regular jeans etc wouldnt do up. But I am tiny, & not carrying extra weight. I'm now 15 weeks, and sporting quite the bump.

Seff · 03/12/2013 16:41

My bump is much bigger second time round and there is definitely only one baby in there, promise!

I think my internal organs shifted upwards as soon as it implanted. I've heard that your body "remembers".

theborrower · 03/12/2013 20:47

I'm not feeling quite so fat and bloated today - maybe I was having a particularly bad bloated day yesterday. I'm still wearing the mat trousers though, my regular clothes feel tight. Glad to hear I'm not so unusual going into them early, though!

My wise Aunty said that this always happens with a 2nd or 3rd etc pregnancy as everything is "pre stretched" and your body remembers what to do from the 1st time you were pregnant. Certainly true in my case, didn't start showing at all til past 14 weeks with my first, now 11 weeks with my second and already have a bump and can't wear my normal jeans!

Panzee · 06/12/2013 18:32

You're probably keener to get into them too, as you remember how comfy maternity trews are. :)

Incapinka · 06/12/2013 18:36

Seff - I am so pleased you said that. I am 8.5 weeks now and felt my organs moving around the other week. Well that's what I thought it was but dismissed it as thought I was going bonkers. Our bodies are funny old things aren't they! Not in maternity stuff yet but do fine life more comfortable in leggings/tracky bums or pjs. 6.36 on a Friday in my pjs. Rock and roll!

theborrower · 06/12/2013 20:02

Panzee - oh yes, they are soooo comfy. Let it all hang out.

Incapinka - also in my jammies, but that's not actually that unusual Blush
