Hey all

I have a honking cold topped up with a very uncomfortable cough.

Can I take any over the counter cough syrups?

I have paracetamol but that's about it but I need something. It's been over a week now so it's getting too much

Any advice? X

I'm the same Sad I asked the pharmacist today and she said only glycerin and honey. It's not that great though Hmm

I've just recovered from a horrid cough and cold which I had for over a month, it was grim. Went to the docs and was prescribed simple linctus which did give some relief.

I also drank hot water with lemon and honey, and that was it.

Hope you feel better soon op. Feel better in the knowledge that the worse you feel now the better protected your baby will be when it's born from the antibodies you pass along.

Boots sell their on version of Lemsip which is paracetamol only and suitable for pregnant women. Have to say though, it doesn't do the trick like the way proper Lemsip does. Colds and coughs are bad enough at the best of times, let alone when you're pregnant and baby is constantly pressing on your bladder!

Vicks VapoRub is allowed though which may be helpful for some

I have had a bad cold for last five days started as headache, yuk feeling for a couple days before the cold came out of hiding! Paracetamol has helped but I long for night nurse liquid! Had a few bad nights until realised I could use the Vicks vapour rub as homehypno mentions above. It meant I could breathe through at least one nostril! Certainly helped loads, I think I got a couple better stretches of sleep with that which has helped me keep going in the day and try fight the bugs off, am 35 weeks, never had a cold when preg before and I have to say it isn't pleasant is it. Much harder work.
