Growth Scan

Having a 36 week growth scan at the end of this week purely based on my bmi being 38. I don't have gtt or any health concerns other than that but i presume they want to check babies size and position, which wasn't possible by palpation last time mw felt my tummy.

How accurate are these scans and what do they entail? Tia x

Fwiw my other 4 children were born between 5lb 11oz & 7lb 8oz, all of them between 4 & 14 days overdue.

It's a regular scan where they measure HC (if possible), AC and FL.
They are notoriously inaccurate (results may vary by +/- 2lbs!); it's rather rare that they even come close to the real weight with the growth scan.

FWIW, my own example: DS2 measured 8lbs 9oz at growth scan; three days later he was born at 10lbs 0.5oz.
