Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
but I think that makes this link less visible so am merely putting the link. The information on this site is invaluable for sufferers, with information about medications, coping strategies, hospital admissions, useful links, advice for family members, and much more.

I would like to thank MOH and Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

MurderofGoths I wanted to give you a hug for such lovely presents from the MumsNet recommendation - and anyone else who might have slyly nominated - I got Boots tokens and Amazon tokens, books and sweets for myself and daughter Grin. I didn't think I deserved them, but was very touched.I'm sorry you've got the dreaded SPD, it is so painful I know that some woman have to crawl upstairs with it. I didn't realise it was so long to go. I hope, as others say, no residual sickness?

Sally and Jen I am no expert - but I believe they aren't worried about babies weighing over five pounds?
Hugs to Meerka and Everyone. At least the festive season is past - that is so hard to endure when feeling unlike food of any sort, or any socialising, either...

MurderofGoths Oh dear, just cross posted. Not entirely gone, then. It's a marathon when it lingers, especially with other health problems. You Sally and others deserve medals.

Hi all, hope you had a nice break Lucinda! Nice to hear lovely scan news for Jen and Sally. I've got my 12 week scan booked for 22nd so that's keeping me going counting down the days. 10 weeks yesterday, only 30 to go! Has anyone ever had an early induction or elcs due to hg...?! Just wondering!

Also, a bit tmi but constipation - is there anything you cando when you can't each much fruit & veg?

Very sick yesterday so am on my most boring diet of shortbread biscuits, scrambled egg, crackers and oatibix. Not all at once! I really really wish that I could eat ( or even that I wanted to eat) a proper cooked breakfast! I miss nice food. I miss wanting nice food instead of feeling nauseous at the very thought of it. Huh.

LucindaE · 07/01/2014 11:31

SliceofLime Never worry about tmi on here - all things discussed, including that nice foam that comes up after feastng on Gaviscon Shock. Are you on Ondanestron? Not sure if you have had a go at those suppositories, those jelly things you can get over the counter at Boots. The annoying thing is, you have to pretend your not pregnant -as you do to get hold of Cyclazine from Boots - though they use them routinely in hospital for pregnant women. I really couldn't endure that awful drink with the bits in it, the name has gone out of my silly head. Also, the doctor can prescribe a med that is apparently more effective and less gruesome.

yeah slice get something prescribed..then it's free ;-)

can you snack on raisins? brown bread?

had 28wk check including bloods in one arm then wc jab in other arm. ouch!

Meerka · 07/01/2014 12:59

i was told kiwis and avocados help (fortunate, since I've had an avocado craving ever since I began to eat anything again). If you can eat at all.

Movicolon from the doc is brilliant too.

all well with the checkup doomfinch other than the pincushion effect?

SliceOfLime · 07/01/2014 16:41

Thanks ladies, am seeing midwife next week so will see if she can give me anything to get things moving, in the meantime it'll have t be raisins! Allergic to kiwi and at the mo avocado - no.... Mind you last time at about 18 weeks I had a craving fro burritos (after refusing all food with any flavour for weeks) so maybe that will happen again?!

Hope check up was ok chaffinch, what was the jab for?

jenpatnim · 07/01/2014 17:31

I am guessing doomfinch's jab was whooping cough - I got mine at 32 weeks and my arm felt bruised for days!

I am so so tired, and not sleeping terribly well. Roll on February...

MurderOfGoths · 07/01/2014 17:49

Also had the 28 week check today, and I've got the wc jab tomorrow

Meerka · 07/01/2014 18:10

hope it went well, moG?

LucindaE · 07/01/2014 19:39

SliceofLime Do try and get those suppositories besides other excellent suggestions, you don't want to wait until next week says bossy mother hen.
MurderofGoths Like others, hope check up all fine?

Meerka Sorry sickness still lingers.
Chaffinch That sounds very painful!
Jen I hope taking it easy.
Hugs to all.

SliceOfLime · 07/01/2014 20:08

I'll try the raisins first and maybe even manage some fruit... But then I will go to chemist I promise!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 07/01/2014 20:33

and lots of water to keep bowels moist heheheheh

yes, all fine with the check, heart beat and lowish bp. I always feel dizzy when I stand up , my mum's has always been really low. had 2 naps today, little bit outrageous..hitting the garden centre with my mum tomorrow so need stored energy!

Totesamazeballs · 07/01/2014 21:21

Hi all! On the countdown for many. I am 27 weeks and starting to get the fear about coping with two and sleep deprivation....someone tell me it will be ok!

Meerka · 07/01/2014 21:46

sickness is rotten tonight. Not been good last two nights but feeling sorry for myself again right now. Also there's quite a bit of pain, maybe the muscles expanding or something, the Bump seems to be growing a cm a day.

totes maybe it's just the bad evening but having the baby out has gotta be better'n being pregnant. why can't we reproduce by budding, like amoeba?

LucindaE · 08/01/2014 12:45

Meerka Sorry to hear that. I do agree about babies inside being a source of discomfort, save for lucky women -some woman do things like going sailing - can you imagine it???!!! Envy in the first tri Envy.
Chaffinch glad scan went well and ToesMurderofGoths You are approaching the goal. I'm sure lack of sleep will be a breeze compared to your sufferings earlier.
SliceofLime How are those liquids staying down? FrillyPig?
Hope Everyone isn't too bad.

MurderOfGoths · 08/01/2014 12:51

Yep, check up all good. The midwife wants me to see her at 32 weeks to keep an eye on me though

LucindaE · 08/01/2014 21:36

MurderofGoths Glad it was all good.

LucindaE · 09/01/2014 11:31

Meerka I do remember a lot of pain in the ribs. How is the sickness today?
Sally I hope carpeting finished. When is your due date?
In fact, I ought to update the list of due dates, if anyone wants one.
I still can't get over all those lovely MumsNet presents, especially the Amazon tokens. I'm geekily torn between a few classic novels, and some baroque music. There isn't a geek icon on here, sadly...

Hi everyone. I'm really sorry to see so many of you still here Shock
I'm just here to say I'm not feeling great at the moment. It could be just experiencing normal ms at the moment though. I've got a little bit of nausea, which turns into a vomit if I get too hungry. but then I'm ok. It's amazing - if I had to be ill before, why couldn't it be like that? I can cope with one vomit and gone! I just wish the nausea today would make up its mind.
I'm hoping this is a passing phase as I'm 26w now so there's a chance of many more weeks of this if it hangs around.

Sending you all hugs from over here and hoping you all feel better soon xxx

jenpatnim · 09/01/2014 13:24

Lucinda, my due date is 15th Feb - eep!

I have been quite queasy and sicky the last few weeks, especially when I wake up at night reaching for the peptac liquid but the acid in the back of my throat triggers a retching episode as well.

Other than that just waiting now. Went and picked up the pram and cot and other big things from the baby shop, have all the baby clothes washed, need to finish packing the hospital bag but otherwise I am nearly there.

There is so much I don't know yet but I will have to wait and see...

livingzuid · 09/01/2014 17:34

Hi all sorry for not replying before I hid the thread doh! We was wondering where it had gone!

Sorry to everyone who is still suffering and feeling horrid :(

I am loving not working. It has made the world of difference. I have been able to go swimming and keep the house tidy. It's only in the evenings I really feel crap still and I do get bad nausea after 7th. I tried stopping the tablets but immediately felt worse so nice though it would be to not take another drug I will keep with them.

Exercising is fab although I have to take it easy. I could so easily get used to never working haha! Dangerous! Seeing the gynaecologist tomorrow then 20 week scan next Friday. Bit scared but I do have a bump now and DH tells me it is growing. Will keep you posted.

MurderOfGoths · 09/01/2014 17:46

Think the whooping cough vaccine has made my nausea worse and my arm feels like it's been being punched! Anyone else feel the same after?

jenpatnim · 09/01/2014 18:57

Yes, MOG, I did. It was rotten.

ExquisiteChristmasCakes · 09/01/2014 19:26

Hi all! Just got my BFP and had HG with both of my children (2 and 3 years). Usually kicks in around week 7 so I'm preparing myself..anything I should be thinking about?
