Gestational diabetes, quick question!

Hi, I've been achieving 'within range' numbers for my gest diabetes but this week notice that they are a little higher generally with a couple falling out of my range (above 7.8mmls.) The midwife said if I get three numbers in a week which fall out of range then I should ring her unless 'I knew what had caused them'. On one of the higher numbers, I'd had three sips (really just 3 tiny sips, although I know juice is the devil's drink for GD!) and on the other I'd eaten a McDonald's McChicken sandwich and chips (promised kids they could go for a treat - my excuse and I'm sticking to it). I think these would explain my readings above 7.8mmls, so am I right in think I shouldn't waste the midwife's by ringing in?

I am so sick of my low G.I diet. I miss Daim bars, Reese's cupcakes and sherbert dib dabs so much it hurts. I'm 31 weeks. Thanks for any advice!

Know how you feel, have been on a low GI diet since Sept 20th. Am now 28 wks. I wouldn't ring the midwife, you obviously know where you went wrong. For the record have had KFC a couple of times (no fries, just chicken) and my levels were in range. Have also had the odd brownie which has been ok as long as I wait 2-3 hrs before I next eat and have a very low carb lunch eg chicken salad.
What do u think you'll do over Chrisrmas? Can't face the thought of a low GI Xmas dinner....

Christmas has been on my mind too...I really dislike Turkey and my usual approach is load up on potatoes and creamed parsnips etc, which is not an option this year. I could cry at the thought of a Christmas without mince pies and brandy butter and no chocolate.

Based on your suggestion, I might get a KFC for Christmas lunch if they're open - a bargain bucket all for me!

I shouldn't moan as you've been on a low GI diet for weeks while I've only been doing it for 2. I need to get a grip!

I wouldn't ring as you know why they are over its when you are sticking to your eating and then they go over that you need to ring,
And I know what you mean with xmas, I'm going to try to eat sensibly but I'm not going to worry to much if I'm a little over as it's only 1 day plus I'll be having baby a couple of days after Grin
