Pain - should I ring doctor?

I'm 9+5 with my first and I have pain, a bit like cramp, round about where my right ovary is. It has come and gone for the last couple f days but was uncomfortable before and is now hurting.

Is this something I should ring the OOH doctor about? I've not had any scan yet and it's the first time I've been pregnant so I have no idea!! Please help!

Could it be implantation pain ?

LittlePeaPod · 29/11/2013 20:27

I text MW and/or call out of hours doc if pain is sever for piece of mind. It's a bit late to be implantation at 9+5.

Can't text midwife... At what point do I need to worry?!

Definitely call OOH doctor or go to a&e/early pregnancy unit. It could be nothing, it could be something, but if you are in pain you need to be checked out.

I agree you should get it checked out for peace of mind, but try not to worry too much. I had this in a previous pregnancy (which sadly ended in MC for an unrelated reason) and it turned out to be a harmless cyst on my ovary. The midwife said these sometimes appear in pregnancy due to all the changes going on in your body.

Luckily I am pg again (14+3) and I still get the occasional twinge there even though the cyst has gone according to a scan. I've read it can just be a bit of trapped gas around the ovary.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and hope you can put your mind to rest soon Flowers

You have a lot of ligaments being stretched and pushed out of their usual place also on both sides of the uterus, which begins from very early pregnancy and can at times be very sharp but only typically focused on one small area (so not like period cramps). If nothing else is found this is usually the conclusion. Have you had a scan yet? Ectopic pregnancy is always a concern if you go and see a doctor, and they would organise a scan to rule it out. Usually it would manifest much earlier though, around 5-6 weeks
