Well, I'm way further ahead of you at 11+6, but when I had my last scan at 7+5, the sac was measuring three weeks ahead of the foetus. I was positive of my dates due to charting and Day 21 test etc and the foetus was spot on, so they said it was just one of those things.

I would have thought it being bigger at your stage was less of a problem than it being smaller... I'm no expert, but it's evidently growing and perhaps you ovulated early? Try not to worry - not too long till your next scan really Smile

It's counted from the first day of your last period. So that would be about right. You may not ovulate exactly mid-cycle, so that can explain minor variations, too.

Lots of people go to their dating scan and have their due date moved by a well or more from what they expected based on their dates!

It's counted from the first day of your last period.

So on 27th Nov, using that calculation, you were 5 weeks 2 days pregnant. Your scan showed you as 4 weeks 5 days pregnant. This means the sac was 4 days smaller than the calculated age, not bigger.

However due to variation in time of ovulation (i.e. you could easily have ovulated on day 19, not day 14) and of scan measuring techniques/normal tiny variation in size of sacs of the same gestation between different women, I would be perfectly happy with this result at it doesn't indicate anything wrong.

Congratulations and good luck!

Your scan showed you as 33 days pregnant.

Counting from the first day of your last period (21st Oct), you should be 37 days pregnant.

Is that what you're saying?

TittyBojangles · 28/11/2013 22:09

Dating a pregnancy before a fetal pole is seen is very inaccurate. So your scan sounds well within normal expected appearances.

yarab · 28/11/2013 22:49

no i think doctor means 33 days from the day of ovulation , so that the sac is larger than it should be

TittyBojangles .. thanks i feel a bit relaxed after your reply
hope everything is going well

Why do you think the doctor meant that? It's not how gestation is measured normally.

yarab · 29/11/2013 21:09

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice ,,, ohhh . u r right

so now the sac is smaller by 4 days ... is this problem ?

No it's fine, as I said there is always a margin of error in the measurement and you could easily have ovulated up to 4 days later than cycle day 14, which is used as the standard for calculating pregnancy age.

No cause for concern!

thanks dear ,, and sorry for these many questions :)
