Had my 20 weeks scan low placenta

Hey had my 20 weeks scan found out I'm having a little boy Yey.

Every thing was fine she said I have to have another scan at 36 weeks at my placenta is low.

She told me not to worry. But this is my first and I can't help worry a little.

Any body had this problem and can share a little light :)

I had a low-lying placenta with both of my sons, as my tummy grew the placenta moved with it and was no longer covering the exit! I had two normal vaginal deliveries. Try not to worry

Very common, I had it both times, don't worry. I had c sections but for different reasons, nothing to do with the placenta which, in both cases, well out of the way by 30 weeks.

I had a low lying placenta at 20 weeks and had to have another scan at 36 weeks by which time it had moved, apparently in 90% of people it does so dont worry.

Mine's low too (I'm now 20 +4) and it's been blamed for some of the bleeding I've been having on and off throughout this pregnancy. The hospital seems very unconcerned as seems to be a very common problem which they've said normally resolves itself in more than 95%. I was scanned last week because of bleeding and the placenta is partially covering the cervix, I've got the anomaly scan on Monday and will be having at least another scan to check the placenta at around 32 weeks.
Is yours fully or partially covering the cervix now?

Lizziekal she never really went in to detail she just said you placenta is showing a bit low so I'm assuming its partial.

She didn't seem that concerned and told me not to worry. But you know what it's like can't help worry a little.

I haven't had an bleeding at all so fingers crossed it moves up.

Mine was also low at my 20 week scan, had to have a growth scan 4 weeks later as baby was measuring small at which point it was 100% out of the way (and baby was measuring fine)

Honestly, in the vast majority of these cases it sorts itself out i'm sure all will be fine :)

I had a low lying placenta at my 20 wk scan, they re-booked me for 34wks to check on its position but I also had a scan at 23ish wks as she couldn't complete all the checks at the 1st 20 wk scan. It had already moved by 23 weeks. At 34 weeks it was well up and out of the way, so I'm back to a low risk pregnancy and am due tomorrow

I had exactly the same as 2labradors- except in my case the second scan was at 22 weeks and just in that fortnight the placenta had moved enough that I no longer even needed a late scan.

Hi, I'm 39+ 6 now. Had low lying plancenta at 20 weeks. Had moved completely at 32 weeks so worry not! I think it's more common to have moved than not as others have said!

Awww it's good to hear so many positve things I suppose there's nothing I can do any ways so will stop worrying and now buy lots of little boy things now lol xxx

In most cases a low lying placenta at around 20 weeks will have moved up prior to a late scan at 34-36 weeks. Sometimes it doesn't move, or move enough, so a c section is required.

I am one of the small minority whose placenta didn't move, and to top it all off I had grade 4 (the worst) placenta praevia twice.

We're you given any advice? If you get any bleeding, call the labour ward.

I had a low lying placenta at 20 weeks and went back on Thursday (36 weeks) where they said its moved. However wasn't prepared for this scan to be an internal!

What AuditAngel said; only a tiny% of placentas low at 20 weeks turn out to be a problem. You can't change what happens to the placenta so don't let it worry you.
