its ridiculous. I've had a prawn sarnie & some sushi, which I actually think you can have anyway!?!

I've also been drinking diet coke (1 can per day is all!!!!). and I dont drink tea or coffee.

last pregnancy I wouldn't have dreamt of consuming any of the above and was ridiculously smug & caffine free (if you dont count chocolate that is).

Tell me it's fine & I'm just being a right nobber!?!

p.s. and also I've ordered flat mushroom with stilton as a starter for an xmas do.

Oi! Nobber! You'll be fine! Grin

You can have the cooked prawns & most sushi (M&S, boots etc) is all cooked fish anyway.

As for the coke... Meh. There's less caffeine in a coke than in a coffee (I think) and NHS says you can have one of those.

Hasn't NHS guidance changed & you can have Stilton now too? Either way... Enjoy! I had a bit of pâté at the weekend it was ammaaaaazing!

Happy mum = happy baby Smile

I think prawns are fine aren't they? Sushi apparently we should avoid because of the raw fish.

I've been a lot less strict second time round - most things we're told to avoid (like soft cheese, raw eggs etc) are because it's not a good idea to get food poisoning while pregnant. But I figure how often do you get food poisoning from them anyway, so I take the risk sometimes - a bit of goats cheese here, a runny egg there...

I have one (sometimes two) weak coffee/s a day and I'm sure we're allowed that, so the caffeine in a diet coke wouldn't be much more than that would it? The sweeteners might be another subject.

So no judgement here!

JoinTheDots · 28/11/2013 16:01

Yep, you will be fine! You can have stilton now as per NHS and the other things you are also allowed. Christmas was saved the day I read I was able to eat stilton...

Naomilouise1992 · 28/11/2013 16:01

Oh don't worry I'm obsessed with lucozade and coke! I had glucose in my wee but that's stopped since I have one a week!

I also went in the steam room an jacuzi and dam it felt so good xxxx

nomoreminibreaks · 28/11/2013 16:02

Seriously can we have Stilton guilt free?!

rachyconks · 28/11/2013 16:02

Oh god. You aren't as bad as me. I've had wine, coke, prawns, undercooked steak, runny eggs, having pate for Xmas lunch (though homemade so I know will be cooked properly), soft goats cheese, Stilton (which is apparently fine if cooked anyway), coffee, tea & ADDICTED to red coke. So, definitely more laid back this time, almost horizontal. I'm a very naughty mummy!

Inapickle123 · 28/11/2013 16:05

Eh, hang on a minute...you're not supposed to be drinking diet coke?

I have at least two cans a day; sleep has been elusive and it's the only thing keeping me awake and on my feet. I figured it was ok as long as I didn't drink a huge bottle in one sitting (which I am VERY capable of doing!)

Guess baby pickle will be wired to the moon when he/she makes their appearance in January.

I probably should have done some reading up on things I should avoid but ignorance is bliss!

PicnicPie · 28/11/2013 16:10

Another one here that is a lot less cautious second time round. God I didn't have more than one cup of tea per day with my first pregnancy. Now I need more than one cup plus a load of other forbidden foods just to get through the day Grin.

Naomilouise1992 · 28/11/2013 16:11

What u don't know doesn't hurt haha!!! I find out I shudnt be doing loads n when I find out I feel awful xxx

MrsRV · 28/11/2013 16:16

hooray!!!!! my fear with diet coke is/was/intermittent and for a. caffine and b. aspartamine...

however, I will continue to enjoy and take these little pleasures where I can find them!

According to the NHS guidelines you don’t have to avoid sushi as long as the fish has been frozen first. So sushi from supermarkets or places like Wasabi will be fine. Japanese restaurants should be fine too but you might want to ask first to check that the fish has been frozen. Stilton in its natural state is fine too as it's a hard cheese. It's the soft ones like St Augur you should avoid or cook first.

MrsRV · 28/11/2013 17:47

st agur is my absolute fave. salivating just at the very mention!!!

Wouldn't be drinking diet coke myself- think normal coke would be better surely? But the rest sounds fine!

morgs22 · 28/11/2013 18:18

I'm a sugar fiend, have been since forever but I've limited myself to 1 small bottle of fizz per day (used to drink 2 big ones a day and loads of sweets and chocolates so go me!!) but people still feel the need to tell me off and lecture me, they've now started to get the answer of 'fuck off its my body and my baby if it comes out bouncing its my problem' lol don't generally eat cheese or fish anyway and I've really improved my diet so I think I deserve my 1 naughty treat. If your happy to eat and drink that stuff and its not, midwife standing over you glaring, kind of bad then I say go for it Smile
