bad headaches

Can anyone help. my daughter is only 12 weeks gone (just had first scan) but she has been suffering very badly with constant headaches and abdominal pain and sickness....I am getting quite concerned....have got her to promise me she will see doc about the headaches... (I know that this is a sign to pre-eclampsia but that usually is later on in the pregnancy...can any one advise /help or offer reason. thanks

Hello, I was having the same and spoke to my MW about it. They will want to check her blood pressure, but if that's ok she's just one of the unlucky ones like me that suffers the headaches. It's too early for pre eclampsia, and my MW said that extra water intake can really help. If she gets migraines, magnesium supplements can help but I've not tried it personally yet.
The abdo pain could be stretching as long as she's not bleeding etc. I've had pain since 11 weeks, and it's been at it's worst this week! (19 weeks now)
They recommend seeing what suits, gentle exercise, resting, etc to see if it eases. But if you guys are concerned, call the MW. I've just invested in a support band as my pain gets worse the more I walk.

If it's just normal headaches, so no underlying cause, then I'd recommend that she start looking for any patterns of things that make it worse. Possible triggers are:
Changes to sleep pattern or broken sleep
Dehydration
Stress
Sugar highs and lows - quite common when diet goes out the window
Hormones so may ease off in a couple of weeks
Tiredness
Certain foods

She should definitely see the doc etc but I had sickness quite badly and migraines and was unlucky. Still, some mild anti sickness medication helped.
