Dcs have had a vomiting & diarrhea bug all week, now looks like I've picked it up too. Not feeling great, constant dodgy tummy feeling. I'm just wondering if anyone has any sympathy/advice as to if it could affect the baby or not? TIA

Oh you poor thing.

No, I am sure that a straightforward stomach bug won't harm your baby.

Concentrate on staying hydrated. Hope you feel better soon.

The bug itself shouldn't affect the baby (I've had four lots of gastroenteritis this pregnancy) but you need to try and keep your fluids up as dehydration isn't good. If you are vomiting a lot and unable to keep fluids down you may need iv fluids in hospital. Keep an eye on your wee output to check your hydration levels.

I got a horrible one at about the same time I ended up passing out after the 7th vomit in about 4 hrs. On coming round I sipped sugar and water and the next day flat sprite. The following day I was fine I called my doc / Hv who said that baby would not be harmed at all .. However as said if you start to feel dehydrated then you should go and be checked. She also gave Dh a bollocking for not taking me in when I passed out ..

You have my sympathy! This happened to me, too. As others have already said, no real danger as long as you stay hydrated. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi I had the norovirus or however you spell it for 15 days at 28 weeks. You and baby will be fine but drink lots of water I ended up in hospital because I was dehydrated and having vision problems so please drink drink drink!

I'm just getting over a severe stomach bug - the OOH GP advised staying hydrated, and not eating for a full 24 hours after the last 'bout', then reintroducing food gradually.
If you can stay dehydrated, you and the baby will be fine. It's vile though, and will knock you out for longer than if you weren't pregnant. Feel better soon.

Thanks for all the replies, sorry I couldn't reply last night - vomiting children everywhere!
She brought home magazines, goodies & pressed apple juice which was a miracle for me, and helped immensely. After a good old sleep I'm feeling much better this morning as is one of the DCs it's been a helluva week
