Very random.... but when should I be offered the whooping cough vaccine? No one has mentioned it too me yet and won't be seeing my midwife again until 16th dec? Should I phone the gp and book an appointment?

Am 31 weeks ish but baby is massive :)

You can have it any time from 28 weeks, so I'd book it yourself.

Hollyjokes · 27/11/2013 16:33

Yes just book it yourself. Take your notes along and the nurse will write in them to say you've had it.

Shall phone nurse tomorrow, didnt even know I should have been offered it until I read on here! Thank you :)

I was told about it at my booking app and was told i would have to sort it myself as the gps wont offer it, thankfully i have really good community midwives who double checked that i had booked it, they did the same with the flu jab as my gps wont offer it, i have to ask for it.

I had mine the day before my ELCS!! They said it was still worth having

Rosebug258 · 28/11/2013 10:03

It's never been mentioned at all to me, at any of my appointments, ah well I have phoned my gp got an appointment next Tuesday, glad I know about it now tho :)

It wasn't mentioned by my MW, Consultant or GP. I am 31 weeks. I had the vaccine yesterday. The nurse I seen said it needs to be given by 32 weeks but as other posters have said it can be given anytime after 28 weeks.

It appears few HCP's are actually discussing the whooping cough vaccine with mothers as your story seems very common.

Cariad007 · 28/11/2013 11:23

My midwife did mention it to me and I went to the doctor today but there was no one there to give me the jab! Have made an appointment for next week instead. Pregnancy is not great for anyone with a needle phobia!

you book it yourself through gp and your flu jab x
