Feeling dreadful

Hi all

I posted last week as I was feeling guilty about work. Been signed off for 8 days now and not feeling any better.

Am 8+6 and have had morning sickness on and off but tbh that's fading now. The thing that's getting to me is the crippling exhaustion. Went to GP yesterday and he said I wasn't showing any signs if virus/infection but I'm tired, hot and cold, snotty, headachey and feel just generally grim.

Is this normal? Please tell me it will pass as I'm miserable Hmm and I haven't even seen a midwife yet.

It sounds like you've got a cold or virus to me (despite what doctor says). Those aren't normal pregnancy symptoms, apart from the exhaustion, which is entirely normal and improves from 12 weeks for most women.

I've felt like I'm ill and have a cold/flu since about 7 weeks, I'm 14 weeks at the moment. To be honest I've heard that it is normal in pregnancy and my doctor certainly seems to think so. Currently dreaming of the second trimester glow which doesn't seem to be showing itself yet.

I've had a horrid cough for the last 4 weeks and a runny nose most days. It's all normal apparently (sadly) - I'm 13 weeks.

Thanks ladies. I feel really ungrateful because I was desperate to get pregnant and am so excited about the baby but I just wish I felt a bit more human and could get out of bed for longer than 10 minutes. I went to see Greg Davies on Saturday night and fell asleep in the theatre Hmm which was just sad lol.

Me too! Have been exhausted since the beginning! i know i'm supposed to go and 'walk it off' but i cant even bring myself to go to the gym today. have no motivation for anything! this weather doesn't help either. (grumble grumble)

LucyB1 · 27/11/2013 16:11

Also can i ask... i notice a lot of people say 8+6 etc when talking about how many weeks they are. what does this mean?

wispaxmas · 27/11/2013 16:14

It's weeks plus days!

wispaxmas · 27/11/2013 16:16

And as to the op, have you heard of pregnancy rhinitis? It's basically pregnancy sniffles, and loads of women get it. If it's not what you're suffering from, we tend to have low immune response thanks to our lovely unborn children, so are more susceptible to colds. Why was your doctor so sure it wasn't a virus?

LucyB1 · 27/11/2013 16:17

ahhh... that makes sense! its so obvious now. thanks!

livingzuid · 28/11/2013 08:03

The tiredness is something else isn't it! Poor you dizzy you must have needed it! Our bodies are going through huge change and make sure you are being pampered and spoilt by your OHs :)
