So, after a SCARY bleed (i'm 10+6 today) on Monday night i had a scan to be told the good news: baby fine and ahead of schedule size wise- and the bad news: that i have a small (1 x1cm) SCH.. she told me not to worry and that it should resolve itself and I will get scanned weekly until it does, and hopefully it doesnt get bigger. If it does i might be forced into bed rest.

My biggest nitemare really is that I'll have this for the duration and cant be active- i was planning on having a v active pregnancy and doing yoga and all sorts!! i mean obviously the most important thing is that the baby is fine..

anyone know if there are any alternative treatments to help resolve this? I've read that Vitamin E in small doses can help, so i'm taking 50mg a day.. anything else??

I have one of these, it was diagnosed after a heavy bleed at six weeks. I was put on bed rest for a week and have been taking it easy since then (no lifting, using the lift at work instead of stairs etc). It's still there but shrinking each week and I've been having weekly scans and taking baby aspirin and an injection of clexane daily to try and thin it out further. I had several days of brown bleeding but the dr says this is ok as he thinks it's just the clot shrinking

That's good news Helish.
Tell me this- what exactly is baby aspirin?
My midwife or gynae didnt suggest it but i've read it online

You can get it in Boots, it's the 75mg stuff recommended for use after heart attacks etc. ask your dr about it at your next scan. Not all medics believe it has an effect but it doesn't seem to be doing me any harm

ChicaMomma · 27/11/2013 15:38

OK cool i will ask them about the aspirin at my scan next week.
The one positive to this is the weekly scans- i'm a worrier so seeing the baby wriggling away every week will be great. I just really hope the SCH doesnt grow, and preferably it goes away as i'm really excited about the pregnancy Yogalates! the thoughts of not being able to exercise for the next 30 weeks are quite depressing.

I was told that they can only see the bleed if it's old blood so the fact they can see it is positive. I had my bleed at 11 weeks at the time I was bleeding heavily they couldn't see the bleed on an ultrasound. At 12 weeks they could see the area of bleeding, by 20 weeks it had disappeared completely. They said no evidence that bed rest makes a difference but to take it easy for about a week after bleeding stopped. They didn't offer any scans other than the standard ones I was due anyway.

1x1 is tiny though so I wouldn't worry too much.

ChicaMomma · 27/11/2013 17:19

Oh that's good- thanks tarka!
Makes sense about being able to see it/being old..
Hopefully by next weeks scan it's either gone, or gotten smaller. On the screen it looked like a black spot the shape of a coin over the sac. Weird. Apparently nothing to worry about but i cant help it! Dr Google doesnt help of course, telling that sometimes they rupture and take the baby with it!!
One of my other worries is that it'll mean i'll need a section.. way too early to know that i guess.

I think it's quite common for them to have gone by 20 weeks. At least that's what I'm hoping!

ChicaMomma · 27/11/2013 17:37

yeah that's what i was told- that it might even be gone within 2 weeks, it all depends. I really want to start my Yogalates!! I dont want to be a huge unfit pregnant person!! also, lack of activity = more difficult labour, all things being equal. So this wasnt in my plan- but hey, life hardly ever goes to plan and we should be thankful for small mercies, like being preggo at all! 2 of my closest friends have been trying for close on 3 yrs, so it can always be a LOT worse..
