Maternity tights/leggings

Hi all,

19 weeks today, and I think I finally have to face facts and get at least some maternity tights/leggings, as not all of my normal ones are up to stretching over the small but growing bump!

Does anybody have recommendations where to get thick black tights/leggings? Ideally online if possible. Is it one size fits all for pregnancy, or are there early/late types depending on bump size?

Thanks!

LT

I bought mine from New Look. Very comfy, and a good fit. I would recommend to a friend.

Leggings I got came from New Look. For tights have managed to just keep stretching my Primark ones as maternity ones seem expensive and I have a habit of laddering them a lot so it was gong to get expensive. Although, when I joined Boots parenting club got some vouchers and one was for 50% off maternity tights.

I bought h&m tights. 2 pair in a pack and they have lasted me so far (37 weeks)
I bought some jeggings from Dorothy Perkins which although the fit is still good they become bobbly and had some seam pulls quite quickly.
Black leggings from matalan have lashed me throughout also, but the sizing seems to be larger than other maternity wear.
Mothercare leggings fit good but they greyed very quickly.

I think it's just one size grows along with your bump.

H and m are the best I've found. Both for tights and thicker leggings. I bought a large in leggings (would normally be med or large) and, at 29 weeks there's still a fair bit or growing bump room.

The tights seem more true to size, again got large as I'm tall and they still fit well.

I would 1,000,000,00% reccomend ASOS Maternity 120 denier black tights. They have a rubber band at the top so never slip down your bump, are super thick but not wooly (so smart) and very comfy. And, because its Christmas I will let you have my code (which is for 48hrs only) for 20% off "20FORYOU". God i'm nice.

Shropshiremummy2B · 27/11/2013 10:52

Oh and they don't ladder and wash really well.

The H&M ones I have had were terrible, fell down lots and were very short in the body.

Cariad007 · 27/11/2013 10:59

Do M&S do maternity leggings? I bought some regular leggings from there about 6 years ago and they’re still going strong, even though I wear them everyday in winter. I can still fit into them but think I might need something that goes over the bump soon.

quackojuliet · 27/11/2013 11:03

I live in m&s maternity tights and new look maternity leggings. Both are going strong despite daily wear. H&m mat tights got were shite and laddered almost immediately.not worth it when they're really not cheap either.

Pinkbell123 · 27/11/2013 11:08

princesscupcakemummyb · 27/11/2013 11:37

i second new look their maternity leggings where fab i lived in mine lol

CupcakeFanatic · 27/11/2013 12:14

Mamas & Papas black leggings have served me well (I'm currently 32 weeks). They haven't faded or bobbled.

pinkglitter80 · 27/11/2013 12:22

I got some red herring ones from debenhams which lasted me through whole preg and weren't too expensive x

amandine07 · 27/11/2013 13:10

Boots maternity tights have been fab- they don't fall down, the fit is good in terms of being true to size, no sagging or gusset sinking down to your knees! They wash well & no sign of a ladder yet- 60 dernier.

The only thing I've found is the 2 front seams irritate my bump after a whole day of wearing, but I think that might just be me going through an itchy phase.

Yes Boots parenting club give you 50% off maternity tights.

Thanks for the hints only 15+4 so dont want to buy any yet but will store the thread for when bump starts to grow!

Going off piste slightly but isn't it a shame the model on the ASOS maternity section isn't actually preggers - check out the maternity pants photos just to make you really feel beached whale ish......

LightTripper · 27/11/2013 15:04

Thanks for all the tips (and the code Shropshire!) - will check these out!
