Morning, I'm hoping someone can put my mind at ease. I'm 10 + 3 and this morning have found some fresh red blood when I wipe. I've never had this in previous pregnancies and a little worried. Do I need to be phoning mw or wait and see what happens? It's not much but enough to be noticed.

Hi, I would call the midwife and let them know.
I had this and turned out to be nothing but still best to be safe. The advice I got was to put on a sanitary pad so any further bleeding is easy to spot. As I also had no fetal movements I had to go in and get checked out but all was ok. I am still glad I went in though.

whereisthewitch · 27/11/2013 09:42

If it's bright red I would definitely ring the midwife!

Hope all is ok.

Xenadog · 27/11/2013 09:53

Ring MW. I had this at 8 weeks (with clots) and took myself straight to A&E where I had a scan in the EPU. Everything ended up being fine but for a while I was worried.

Fingers crossed for you.

Just to add if you can't get hold of your midwife you could phone the hospital. I'm assuming there is a number for the ward in the front of your pregnancy notes books... That's what I ended up doing and it saves you going to a&e as they will take you straight into the ward

VeryHappyMama · 27/11/2013 10:00

Sorry should have said saves you having to wait around in A&E as you will be able to go straight to the ward

slightlyinsane · 27/11/2013 10:17

Spoke to epu, they want me to wait and see for the next 48hrs I'm guessing they're busy.

I had bleeding at 7 and 10 weeks but just old blood. However, at 14 weeks I had a big, fresh bleed - and I'm talking underwear and tissue covered in red blood and the water in the toilet bowl was bright red.I went straight to hospital and thankfully baby turned out to be fine, I'm now 23 weeks pregnant. Just monitor it with the use of sanitary towels but if the flow becomes faster or you get any pains then ring them straight back.

Can you think of anything that may have caused it, I.e did you have sex last night?

ChicaMomma · 27/11/2013 17:15

I had this at on Monday, coincidentally 10+3 also.
Went straight in to the hospital to have a scan.
Was diagnosed with a tiny Sub chorionic hematoma (1cm) and told not to worry. basically a small clot in the placenta. Normally they bleed out or are reabsorbed.

Not saying you have the same thing but sounds similar. They are scanning we weekly until it shrinks and/or goes away. If it gets bigger they say they might recommend bed rest, but this shouldnt happen.

Beans1977 · 27/11/2013 20:58

Ok I had the same thing too yesterday - at 10+3!

I had red blood spotting and was very scared as not had this in my two previous pregnancies, so I can empathise. I just went straight to my local A and E dept (have had two MMC previously so am a bit of a nervous patient at the best of times) and was seen by the gyno team there - all seems to be fine and I was told bleeding in first trimester is pretty common. Like chicamomma mine was alos a sub chorionic hematoma.

So, try not to worry but if you don't want to wait 48 hours then I'd head to the hospital.

MaryAnnTheDasher · 28/11/2013 05:26

I'm having similar. Am 9+4 and every day for last few days have had light pink discharge, sometimes light brown and last night a very small bright red clot. I have a private scan booked for tonight (co/incidentally) and am quite nervous. It's only when I wipe though and not even every time I wipe but it's disconcerting isn't it. I'm keeping everything crossed for all of you going through the same thing.

slightlyinsane it does sounds like a hematoma alright- which really is nothing major to worry about, they generally sort themselves out. My bleeding was intermittent- initially bright red, then darker. The dark stuff on and off for about 72 hours, nothing now in since yesterday.
Just be careful lifting your son, and doing any major housework etc.
