Stomach pains - really worried

Hi

I am 16 weeks pregnant and have woken up to awful stomach pain on my lower left hand side, it's almost like a deep burning stitch pain which is constant. Walking hurts as does lying out flat but pulling my legs up to chest takes away all pain. I thought it could be trapped wind but surely the pain wouldn't be this bad?

Would round ligament pain be this painful?

There is no bleeding but I'm still really worried and plan on calling mw first thing in morning but has anyone else had this?

Thanks x

Hi Op. I am sorry to hear you are so worried. I had really painful round ligament pain through my first/second trimester. Mine was mainly on my right side just above my hip bone. So in answer to your question, yes it could be that but I would call your MW in the morning just to get some reassurance.

Thanks so much for getting back to me, been crying to my other half panicking something is really wrong but other than this pain I feel completely fine. I will def call midwife in morning to double check!

If it goes away when you change position, it's very unlikely to be anything to worry about.

I think it sounds like wind but I'd get checked out tomorrow to put your mind at rest. I really wouldn't worry about your baby as there would be period pain type pain low down in your stomach if there was a problem. Try and get some sleep.

It's really scary. I used to panic too but the round ligament pain started settling down when I was about 21 weeks. It hardly occurs now 34+6 but I now panic. about other things (mainly very strong and painful BH). This is our life now, we will always worry and panic about something. Wink Stay positive, speak to your MW, I am sure everything will be just fine. Smile

Thank u all for replying during the night, it helped to reassure me and I managed to get some sleep. Thankfully the pain is gone now and I spoke to mw who said I shouldn't be in that much pain but because there is no bleeding and changing position helped it is probably muscle pain. I'm going to rest at home today and am to monitor it. Horribly scarey night, really did think the worst was happening. Anyway fingers crossed it doesn't come back! 1st pregnancy scare, these things really shake u up eh!!

Trapped wind really is that painful!!

I could barely walk when I had it during later stages of pregnancy.

Felt like a right tit when the mw told me it was just wind Blush

If your unsure OP get it checked.

Oops, x-post Blush

Glad you're feeling better OP

I'm suffering from this too. 14 weeks with 2nd baby and had a lot of stretching pain over the last week, which I know Is a sign of round ligament pain but today felt worse... So rang MW she suggested warm bath and paracetamol and see how it goes. Friends are saying it could be the start of SPD I hope not :(

For others reading this in the future - trapped wind can be that painful! I had appendicitis many years ago but mistook it for trapped wind initially as it was the same level of pain I was used to....(the sweating and nausea weren't normal though!). Also, when pregnant our guts are that squished that the air has even less room to circulate...
