hi all, I had a midwife appointment today and measuring 30 weeks at 28. She didn't really say if this is normal so now worried. does it mean a massive baby? just need reassurance really

Kinda in the same boat I'm mesasuring 38 at 34 weeks!! They let you go two inches either way so I think your fine I need to go for a scan Thursday Shock

Do you have a personalised growth chart in your notes?

The measurements are more relevant in context with your height and weight at your booking appointment, and in relation to each other - they like to check you haven't suddenly ballooned between appointments! If you continue to measure very big (maybe 3-4cm ahead of what they think you should) or if your bump if growing faster than they would expect, they'll send you for a growth scan to check baby's measurements.

I measured big from around 30 weeks and was diagnosed with polyhydramnios (extra amniotic fluid). I measured 53cm on the day I gave birth but DD was "only" 9lb 13oz - by the size of my bump you'd have thought I was having a teenager not a baby!

no not got a measurement chart wad weighed at booking in appointment but not been weighed again, was measuring fine at 24. my bump seems quite small so was surprised that measuring ahead.

She would have said/referred you for a growth scan if she was worried.

I've been measuring two weeks ahead for the last two check ups. The midwives have always reassured me that two weeks either way is totally fine and nothing to worry about. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

I was measuring ahead and was told by midwife I'd have a whopper! DD was 6lb 8oz and shot out! Try not to worry, they'll send you for a scan if they need too.

I was told exactly the same at 28 weeks- consultant gleefully told me I was having a lovely chubby baby!!! I was terrified. My baby was born at term weighing 6lb 13 ozs. Don't worry!

Iv measure 2weeks ahead the whole way through.. Im now 36weeks, aparently its normal to be a couple cm either way its when your measuring 4/5weeks either side that you may be sent for a growth scan just to check baby is growing well but usually its because you have alot of water or the way baby is laid... If your worried ask your midwife :-) x
