Control pants- vanity question!

I'm only about 6 weeks along so obviously not showing but REALLY bloated despite eating virtually nothing :(. As usual outfit is leggings + sack this isn't a massive problem, but have a do coming up on Saturday for which (ages ago) I lashed out on a snazzy and fairly form-fitting dress. I now don't really fit it, don't have anything else particularly suitable and don't have the budget to buy anything new a size up... Basically if I wear spanx or similar, (+probably the entire range of control underwear available locally...) is that going to compress/squidge/ damage baby? I can't bear to ring GP and ask such a gormless question...

No. The baby is a) very small and b) well protected by fluid. It will be fine.

No you cannot in any squish a baby which is only the size of a tadpole anyway but I suppose many people prefer to avoid answering such questions because early miscarriages are possible and no-one would want to be blamed afterwards even if it most likely had nothing to do with anything anyway. Endless arse-covering when it comes to pregnancy advice of any kind (food, exercise, caffeine, beauty treatments etc) is a long-termbug bear of mine....

If I helps I wore support pants and once a corset WITH a support tummy slimming pant because I didn't want to show any bulges at my sister-in-law's party just after having had a serious scare for miscarriage.

They do recommend avoiding over-heating though in any stage of pregnancy so need to compensate by drinking cold fluids etc if control underwear makes you hot.

Don't worry about it- I really don't think there's anything big enough to squash at 6 weeks.

As you get a bit further along, you'll be able to feel in yourself the difference between squishing fat and actually compressing your womb IME.
Just stuff like lying on your front will become properly uncomfortable, and it will feel "wrong" to be doing it (does to me anyway).

I still wear them at 21 weeks... Im quite a larger build however so helps keep the lard at bay! - little tip, Peacocks are the best I have ever bought, only £8 a pair... so you can go up a size and not need to spend Spanx prices.

You can get maternity spanx if your worried (called mama spanx) which I wore as a bridesmaid at about 20 ish weeks. They don't suck your tummy in much but give you a nice shape. At 6 weeks there is nothing to squash so is wear normal spanx if I was you

Thanks everyone! I thought I was probably just being over-worried but wanted to check! And thanks Emily for tip re Peacocks - I shall have a look!
