sister pregnant & due at same time as me

i am 36 weeks and she is 37 weeks. everyone says that it must be really nice to go on this journey with her but i dont see it like that
she is a very demanding person and has told family that they arent paying her enough attention. she made whole family feel bad and now all focus is on her. i phone her regularly to see how she is and to chat about her swollen ankles etc but she never calls me or asks how i am. when she finished decorating her nursery everyone went to see it and took photos etc but now that i have finished mine - nobody has been to see it . i think she feels like i have stolen her thunder and ruined her special time . am i being overly jealous and hormonal or has anyone else experience this??

My sil got pregnant with her 2nd child 2 months after i announced I was pregant with my first.

I was a bit put out for a bit and then decided I was being petty and that if she wanted another child then great for her.

Was good having someone to compare notes with.

My mil was pretty much all for her, and it did piss me off at times but then i realised what an advantage to me it was that she was fussy (aka interferring) with someone other than me for a change!

fgs, stop bickering you are grown ups.

have you asked anyone to come and see your nursery, have you told thewm that you are feeling abit left out.

i have been pregnant at the same time as my sisters twice. and have never understood this 'stolen my thunder' or 'pissing on my fireworks' as one aunt of mine so well put it with regards to my sister being due the same time as her.

thanx for the reality check!! we are not bickering and nobody has fallen out. sister has always been demanding and i guess we all just want to keep the peace. mum and dad were very hurt when they were accused of not taking an interest in her so maybe they are trying to do the right thing, i dont know. have told and invited family to see nursery but......
maybe i should let her have her moment as she likes the attention and it means a lot to her.

i was pg at the same time as my sister in law. it was great actually. and now our boys are the best of friends .

you could be sharing a magical time together, but you are thinking 'she's gewtting all the attention', is she a very anxcious person an insurcure?

tbh, yes i think you are being overly jealous and a tad hormonal. go round there for tea and cake and put your swollen ankles up together.

I was pregnant at the same time as both step sisters (although I was a couple of months ahead).

I went through the hormonal jealous bit when I first found out, but then enjoyed having other rl women to be lumpy with. It is even better now that we all have the babies and can compare notes (and pass them round so that we are dealing with somone else's crying child ).

You are being jealous and hormonal. But you are also (and more importantly) being pregnant. Insane and hormonal comes as part of the package.

sometimes i need to be told how it is. she is my sister and i am lucky that my child will have a cousin the same age. to be honest, i think she may be a bit more scared of the whole situation. she was told last week that the baby's head was engaged and she may deliver v. soon. since then she has been a nervous wreck!!

SIL and I were both pg with our first at the same time (first 2 grandchildren for my mum too!). I found that it took the pressure off me nicely .

I did find it difficult after the births though. A lot of "comparing" went on. Still does, and they're four. Thank god for MN, and knowing that all children do things at different rates.

I had my 2nd baby 8 months before SIL had hers. And dnephew still managed to sit up before ds crawled. [sigh]. Mine are, of course, far more beautiful.

SIL and I are 3 days apart! First granchild for my dad, hasnt really been a prob apart from comparing sizes (im much bigger!) The rest of my family were talking about a sweepstakes at one point though!

for my first pg my sister who had no kids was so utterley jealous that she could barely talk to me for the whole 9 months. Considering i was ill and signed off work for the entire pg and had v little to do or think about other than being pg, it was quite hard. My mother forbade me mention the pg in my sister's presence. She is younger than me (she was 24 at the time), had never tried to conceive and had no reason to believe that she couldn't - she just wanted to be first! Anyway, she has since had two girls and now i am 5 weeks pg - I don't think it will be as bad this time around. Sibling rivalry is an amazingly powerful thing.
