Dilemma!

Second scan of the second child today. We're both really undecided as to whether to find out the gender. Does it personalise the baby too much in case anything goes wrong? Part of us would like to know, but we enjoyed the surprise last time. And neither of us would be disappointed either way...

come on girls - what should we do? Ask - or stay quiet??

I found out the gender for mine, and I'm really glad I did. I had a pretty dire delivery, and can honestly say that if someone had announced "it's a girl/boy/puppy" I wouldn't have taken it in or cared less for a good while after the birth...

Also, financially it made sense, since well before ds was born we were able to scrounge the relevant type of clothes off other people!

But I appreciate that for some people the surprise option is something to look forward to.

I didn't want to know for my first, but for my second I did. I wanted to know whether I should keep my boy clothes or get ready for the expense of buying girl ones. In the end, I have ended up having an amnio where I asked the sex and have now spent a small fortune on girly clothes! Everybody is different. With me, I wanted to know for sure as I had instincts I was expecting a girl because my pregnancy was so different from first time. No regrets, I'm glad I asked

I found out the sex of my dd1 and am glad i did, i was convinced i was having a boy so it gave me time to get used to the reality!!

we were determined we would not find out with our first (mil really didn't want to know) and lasted until I was 36 weeks and had to be admitted for a torn stomach muscle - while I was having a scan I asked them to confirm my suspicions that I was having a girl, do I knew for the last 6 weeks.
With my 2nd pregnancy, we decided to find out at the 20 week scan so that dd would know what flavour of sibling she would have.
Now I'm pg with my third, we have decided that we won't find out - it can be a surprise this time.

Its a tough decision - if you decide not to find out, you can always have the chance later on ossibly, but if you do find out now, there's no going back.

we weren't able to find out with our first (he had his legs crossed!) but we asked with our secind as we needed to know what clothes to keep etc.

If (when?) we ever get pg again we will find out as if it was a girl we would DEF have to move but could squeeze 3 boys in the same room for a while if it was a boy.

i saw a programme on the tv that showed a lady who was told that she was having a girl. she was delighted as she already had 2 boys. she had bought allsorts or girly stuff only for the baby to end up being a boy!! she looked almost dissappointed!! she hadnt realised that it is not an exact science. the only way i would find out is if it was from an amnio - that is 100% as it is a chromosonal test. i am 37 weeks and do not know what flavour mine is. i am looking forward to my husband being the one to tell me.

nope!

Chickened out. But there was some pyelectasis - enlarged kidneys, so we're going back in 14 weeks for another when I'm sure it'll be obvious.

Anyone else had enlarged kidneys? It doesn't seem that unusual but wouldn't mind some reassurance...

Currently preg with bubba two and we found out (it's a boy) or so they say)...

We found out because I was fed up of ppl asking what we were having and tired of getting filthy looks when I replied 'a baby'... Also looking to move so really would like to know whether we need three beds or will two do. (We have a DD).

amelie, dd1 had enlarged kidneys monitored a few times in pregnancy then had to take her in at two weeks old for a couple of tests by 4 months kidneys where fine never needed any treatment i think sometimes they put the baby's on low dose antibiotics for the first month or so to ensure no infection.
