Morning all.
Im 20w2d &just found out were having a son!
We have told family in person/phoned where possible.
Called friends we see regulary &sent what'sapp pics.
However we have friends (real friends not number boosting friends) on Facebook that we don't see often/no longer have their numbers so have sent a private message to them.
Ppl keep asking me why Im not 'posting' on Facebook &why i haven't put scan pictures on.
Im not ashamed Im over the moon &want to shout our news off the rooftops!
Friends who are pregnant put their pics on Facebook&take it as an offence that i think Im better than them by not doing so!
Did you announce on Facebook?
Suppose its no different than announcing the birth in a local paper..?

It's totally your choice - everyone uses Facebook differently and that is up to them. I'm nearly 37 weeks and still haven't put anything on Facebook about the baby. Told our friends in person and the people we don't see often enough to tell don't need to know anytime soon!!! When the baby arrives safely we will probably put a photo on... but until then I am too paranoid and just want everything to be OK!!!

Op, these friends sound a little judgemental. You should do what you prefer.

Fact is, there's gonna be a generation of kids whose parents have put a ton of photos of them on the Internet without their permission. Which might be fine when that kid is 3, but what about when its 43, ceo of a company or running as mp!?

I think I'll put a low key announcement on after 12 weeks, after telling people who we want to know - partly because then people will realise why I've been so weird! (Baaaad morning sickness)

Not going to put a scan picture on because I don't want Facebook owning something so personal, and they do have copyright over anything that is posted on there. I don't have huge issues with others doing it as it's up to them, but I only want to show certain people (plus early scans all look the same anyway!).

I do have issues with people posting those 'this is what your baby looks like' updates every week, however. Not everyone wants to see your uterus at 14/17/26 weeks, thank you very much!!
