16 week appointment?

I'm having my 16 week appointment next week at the hospital with the consultant but I have no idea what's meant to happen, some people are telling me it'll be a sexing scan and a chat but others are saying its just gonna be bp urine etc. Just want to know what I'm actually going there for? if anyone has a clue please enlighten me lol Thanks

I wondered this too!

I had a general chat, a look at my bloods from my nuchal screening, dip test of wee (wasn't told to take a sample, so did one there), took blood pressure and best of all, got to hear the heartbeat. Which I knew wasn't guaranteed to happen and had already decided not to ask, but she asked and I beamed my head off :-)

Was welcome reassurance in this massive lifetime of 8 weeks between scans!

mine was to decide on delivery options after a 3rd degree tear, and discuss care path due to multiple mc. You must have been identified high risk for something- it'll probably be whatever that is.

Saw a nurse/midwife first who did bp and urine, then the consultant, who booked me in for ELCS :) No scan, that's my other consultant!

16 week appt is standard for first babies, certainly where I am. I'm low risk (despite being an old biddy) but it's my first.

thanks guys, I did think that but I wanted to make sure. Ive had agoraphobia for years now and that makes me high risk for antenatal and postnatal depression and family history of haemorrhaging. I can tell my partner not to bother coming if its just a chat he fidgets too much lol Smile

i dont think iv got a 16 week appointment with a consultant, just my 20w scan and consultant all at once. i had a 12 week consultant appointment though.. that normal?

I had a 16 week appointment with my midwife at my GP surgery and all she did was take my BP, dip my urine and make me have my flu jab Smile I wasn't in there for long at all and there definitely wouldn't have been any point in my husband attending.

I'm also under a Consultant and I think I saw her for the first time when I was about 17 weeks. Prior to my appointment the midwife at the hospital checked my pulse, BP, dipped my urine and took some bloods. I then saw my Consultant who just took my medical history, nothing else really. I now have an appointment with my Consultant every 4 weeks.
