Come home from work totally starving while making some soup I spread some pork liver pate on some bread and scoffed it down and then remembered I shouldn't of ate it.

I know sound ridiculous but will it be ok. I don't even no what made me forget.

Bloody hubby must of bought it, it's never summit even before pregnancy we have in fridge apart from Christmas

You will be fine, don't panic :)

NellyBluth · 20/11/2013 16:46

You'll be fine! Plenty of women eat things off the 'banned' list when pregnant.

Julietee · 20/11/2013 16:48

You'll be just fine. The chances of contracting listeria from pate are really small anyway, it's just a precaution to avoid it.

ChicaMomma · 20/11/2013 16:54

I've done the same with certain cheeses- i'd say the risk of anything happening is so tiny!
I had raw beef before i got my BFP. Was horrified but sure if i didnt get food poisoning at the time then it was all fine. I was thinking it woudl have crossed the placenta and done some long term damage to the embryo.. apparently not!

You'll be fine.

Oblomov · 20/11/2013 17:06

Please don't worry. The risk is miniscule.
Most of the pates that are around have practically zero risk anyway.

SweetPea86 · 20/11/2013 17:09

Thanks after the last bite I was like nooooooo shouldn't of ate that and started panicking lol

I had a half runny yolk earlier, is it really bad that i remembered halfway through but ate the rest Grin i have missed pate and wine and nuts and stuff so so bad!

ilovepowerhoop · 20/11/2013 17:27

You can eat nuts. Pâté is supposed to be avoided due to excess vitamin A as well as the listeria risk but a one off would more than likely be fine

evertonmint · 20/11/2013 17:30

The issue with pâté is Vit A, even more so than food poisoning risk I think - too much can have a negative effect on the developing foetus, and liver is full of the stuff. As a one off I really wouldn't worry. Suggest you bin the rest to be on the safe side though Smile

Julietee · 20/11/2013 18:37

Yep, you can have nuts! (Unless you're allergic, in which case why would you be having them anyway?)
Yeah, I forgot to mention the Vit A thing with liver pates. Apparently livers contain too much preformed vitamin A which is bad in excess.
