Miscarriage started, what should I do....stay home or go to hospital???

Posted in miscarriage section also.....

So after three to four days of spotting I am starting to bleed bright red fresh blood and large clots. I'm only experiencing AF type cramps so far.

I was in the hospital Saturday and Monday and had scans which he baby was only measuring six weeks (I'm 8) and no heart beat. So I don't really want to go back not th hospital as I think it is pretty obvious what is happening and don't need another scan.

But I am frightened that it is going to get unbearably painful as I'm not good with pain and only have paracetamol and can't get anything else now as its late and I'm in rural Ireland.

The gp and hospital told me to go in immediately if I got heavy bleeding and or cramps, but I don't want to!

Advice please. What should I do also how long until the pain gets really bad. How long after heavy bleeding starts will sac pass, is this really painful?

I answered on your other thread, hope things aren't too bad and you are coping x

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I found after the sac passed the pain and cramps stopped pretty much instantly. As you've already had a scan I'd say there's no need to go to the hospital again, unless the bleeding escalates (I think soaking through more than one pad per hour is what they call 'heavy') Dose yourself up on ibuprofen and curl up with a hot water bottle.

So sorry you're going through this. I'd suggest taking some painkillers and staying home but contacting your doc tomorrow as they will probably scan you again in a few days to ensure everything has passed ( they did with both of my mc's) x x

so so sorry to hear about what yr going through. that is exactly what happened to me in exactly the same way
I never went to the hospital while I was bleeding heavily I went to see my doctor the next day but she sent me to the epu to have a scan to see if it had all gone. Take pain killers for the pain. if u need any advice or just someone to talk to contact me. I'm so sorry for yr loss xx

Thank you for your support, you are all o good and will never know how much this support means to me.

Well after a few gushes of fresh blood between 9 and midnight along with some big clots the bleeding has since trailed off and is only there when I wipe. It can't be all gone already as it was not much really?? Maybe it is going to start up again.

I'm going to ring the early pregnancy unit at 9 and possibly my gp and try to get a cert as I can't go to work.....I hope they give me one.

Hi Ditsy, I was on your other thread when you first posted about your creamy discharge, I am so sorry that it has come to this x x
Take care of yourself Thanks

DitsyDonkey · 20/11/2013 08:03

Thanks Writerwannabe, I just had a gut feeling it was heading this way so at least I was slightly prepared. I even said a little prayer yesterday that if my little bean wasn't alive anymore then it would be better if things progressed quickly. Who knows, maybe I have a lot more bleeding ahead f me as I don't think I passed the sac yet but I suppose at least things seem to be happening by itself. It's amazing what you can be grateful for at these times!

At 8 weeks the sac will still be very very small so you may have passed it with the clots. I had a MC about this stage and the bleeding was only heavy for a day and then trailed off but lasted about 2 weeks, very light for those 2 weeks though. It's horrible waiting for it to end isn't it? You should be able to get a note to get off work, take care of yourself, have you got anyone looking after you?

Sammc1878 · 20/11/2013 08:11

Ditsy I've been reading your thread and I'm so sorry
I would see how you get on but you might need another scan in a few days
Sending you lots of love and hugs xx

lizziekal · 20/11/2013 10:00

So, so sorry to hear your news Ditsy. Take great care xx

SaucyJack · 20/11/2013 10:15

Take care, dude.

Jollyb · 20/11/2013 10:37

Ditsy - really sorry to hear this. Hope you're ok. At 6 weeks the sac is still really small so it may be that you have already passed it. When I MC at 6 weeks it was tiny - like a little pea.

Rest up. Take regular pain killers. Miscarriages are shit xxx
