Mucous in throat

This may seem like a really minor thing but it is driving me absolutely crazy.

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant. For at least the last 5 weeks I have had huge amounts of thick mucous which sticks at the back of my throat and causes me to gag. I don't have a runny nose or a cold just this thick mucus. It is driving me crazy as my nausea is bad enough at the best of times and this is just causing me to constantly wretch. Combined with the excessive saliva I seem to be producing it is just making me miserable.

I was just wondering whether anyone else has anything similar to this and if so if they have found anything that works and also whether it is likely to be there for the whole pregnancy of disappear at some point.

Thanks for any help!

I've had this throughout my whole pregnancy and I'm sorry to say I'm now 38+3 and still have it. I've found nothing at all that helps, I've tried everything. It still occasionally makes me gag but since my morning sickness vanished at about 16(ish) weeks it's not made me sick. Hope you find something to help, it's really horrible.

Sorry to say but I had this with my last pregnancy and it lasted all the way through, I was constantly blowin my nose to try and rid it. Sit in a steamy bathroom or eat a lot of chilli if you can stomach it, that loosened it up for me.

Thanks for your help.

I guess I should just hold out until the morning sickness retreats a little bit as while it won't make the mucous go away it might help!

I found having water biscuits to hand (SUPER dry crackers...) helped with the saliva issue when I had it last time. It also got rid of a weird taste I had.
