Maternity coat??

My EDD is 20th April, so I will be pregnant and big through the whole winter, coldest part and all. My normal coats are still doing up (just) at the moment, but the recent cold weather has made me think about how on earth I am going to keep warm in January / February.

I need to be semi-smart for work, will probably continue until the end of March.

I don't really want to spend £££ on a bespoke maternity coat if I'm only ever going to use it for 3-4 months (and this is DC2, we are unlikely to go for a DC3, so all being well this will be my last pregnancy).

Any ideas? Just size up in a cheapo supermarket coat?

I was due in May so was at broadly the same stage of pregnancy at the same time. I got away with wearing my normal coats (unbuttoned at times) and a big scarf. My coat was double breasted which at least meant there was more fabric to wrap round me at the front.

I'm due at the start of April.

I got my coat from New Look. Bought next size up. Was only £40.

Im due mid march so ive just hot got a cheap sainsburys one in next size up, its suprisingly roomy and warm and as its only one size up ile get away with using it next winter. Have to say my intentions origionally were to wear my usual coat undone with a big scarf but i missed bein able to fasten up against the cold so this for me is the best option.

tgamble13 · 19/11/2013 15:27

am huge now and wearing normal coat with a big scarf plus ive lent a coat from my mum whos a size up from me.

sophs37 · 19/11/2013 15:34

my husband brought me a new coat coz I said I didn't want to spend lots for something I would only wear a few months so he brought me one from primark for £20 im due in feb n I have still lots of room in the coat so should do me xxx

peeapod · 19/11/2013 15:46

either next size up or try a mens coat...

Snobble · 19/11/2013 15:56

Im still wearing my normal coat to be honest, im due in april as well and was having the same worry. I too am just wearing a heavy scarf and its keeping me snug enough for now. But i have seen a couple of decent coats in new look incase things get desperate.

I got mine fem H&M maternity section. Its a green parka style.

RosesInTheRain · 19/11/2013 16:04

waiting for one from JoJo to arrive! Can't do my coat up anymore and I am generally feeling the cold at the moment. Think it'll be worth it, plus will sell on when I've finished with it (last baby here too)

BonaDea · 19/11/2013 16:08

I got mine in H&M last year. It was cheap - £40 and wool so I went for it. It lasted well through the cold temps last year. I was due early April.

DIYandEatCake · 19/11/2013 16:09

Do you have any friends/family who take a bigger size who could lend you a spare coat? I've borrowed one of my mums and it's great - I'm normally an 8, she's a 14 and it's perfect (37 weeks now and it still fits)
