It is pretty much all I have kept down the last 3 days! No appatite, feel sick whenever I'm not being sick and to top it all have an awful cold :-( I am off work today because I'm just totally exhausted and not helping anyone by keeping going just hoping if I rest should be better sooner. I keep trying to drink so I don't get dehydrated is there anything else I should do/be doing?

How many weeks are you? Just eat whatever you can keep down, drink little and often. Are you taking a multivitamin?

8 weeks so very early, taking folic acid and vitamin d should I be taking multi vitamins?

I would take a pregnancy multivitamin, you might be a little low in iron because of not eating properly, which will make you feel exhausted. The first few months are a struggle either way, I am a firm believer in doing whatever it takes to get through it, eat whatever you can and sleep whenever you can.

When I was really bad at 8 weeks I used to make hot lemon and honey (fairly tart ie not much honey) and then dilute with cold wager an ice. Was about the only liquid I could tolerate. That was in July when it was really hot. Especially as you have a cold you could try it hot!

I think the lemon helps with the nausea more that sugary squashes etc.

There is a Belvoir ginger and lemon cordial which you may be able to get/online order with your shopping. I don't terribly like the taste (lots of ginger!) but it helps my nausea. I prefer it warmed in this weather. Don't worry about your diet now - just do what you can, when you can.

If you feel you need salt, you might try ready salted crisps. Flavoured yoghurts are Ok for me too.

At this stage marmite toast was my friend- or twig lets for the savoury-ness.

Ginger doesn't work for everyone but worth trying. I got ginger lozenges from amazon which were good for out & about.

Since you have a cold too- I'd try hot ginger, lemon & honey. Make just like normal but grate fresh ginger in and let brew for 5-10 min. Then strain. Is excellent for colds IMO and the ginger might help your nausea.

Good luck & remember this wont be forever even though it feels like it at the time!

Thanks so much, I couldn't stop eating salty crisps last week but can't face them this week at all. Really appreciate all the advice.

oh gosh I remember those days. I survived off toast that had been left to go cold and then buttered and salt and vinegar crisps and full fat coke. 18 weeks I lived off that diet as nothing else stayed down. You'll be glad to hear I'm currently at 35, nearly 36 weeks and baby is perfectly happy and healthy. It really doesn't matter what you eat to be honest, as long as you eat and drink SOMETHING. Baby isn't affected by your diet too much as it just takes what it needs from you. It's you who suffers from the lack of nutrients, but there is sod all you can do about it in the early days. Go with the flow and take it easy. Don't beat yourself up about not eating fruit or veg. it isn't forever, when the sickness goes you will eat decent food again.

Hope you feel better soon lovely.

p.s I won't tell you about my return of morning sickness this week. Grin

Eat whatever you can keep down and don't feel guilty. I had terrible sickness with my first pregnancy and survived for weeks on chicken royale meals from burger king and disgusting mini frozen pizzas! Completely out of character for me as im usually a healthy gym bunny! It will get better soon and the baby will be fine. I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant with my second and the dreaded nausea has begun again...eurgh! Good luck xxx
