Abdominal pains at 6 1/2 weeks

I'm 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and have been having pains in the lower right side of my abdomen for 4 days. They were severe at first and I had to go to A&E. They thought I had a burst cyst. I now have a continual dull pain on the lower right side. My obstetrician sent me back to A&E yesterday and they suspected I had apendicitis. Obvisouly surgery would be a huge risk to the baby. Meanwhile the baby looks great and I've already heard the heartbeat. I'm in the States and due to move to the UK (Bournemouth) next week. Am very nervous. Has anyone had similar pains?

Yes, with both my pregnancies. They went away after a week or so.

As long as they've ruled out ectopic, appendicitis and there's no bleeding, hopefully it'll all be okay.

Think I'd stay in the States, however, until they'd ruled out appendicitis - wouldn't want to risk ruptured appendix on a transatlantic flight.

I guess I have a week to see if anything changes. The surgeon in ER suspected appendicitis but my ob is not so sure. I do not have other appendicitis symtpoms. The surgeon seemed to think we'd know one way or another in a week.

Had lots of pain early on which proved to be just trapped wind. Probably a silly question, but have you tried Pepto Bismol? Mine were so bad I couldn't believe that was all it was, but the pepto cleared it right up.

I had really bad pains with my ds, I was beside myself with worry - he's now a happy healthy 4 year old.

Thanks for the resassurances. I've sent DH out for some pepto-bismal. Fingers-crossed.

I had lots of period-type pains around 6 weeks. I had to have a bath to soothe them. I`m pretty sure it was the uterus stretching.

How are you doing KK?

started feeling better today thanks. pain gradually subsiding. saw my obstetrician and he seems to think it was a burst cyst after all (glad I didn't let them whip out my appendix!). have also taken a couple of Pepto-Bismal and have definitely got rid of any trapped gas!

Glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is relatively uneventful
