Can you tell if baby's head is engaging?

I'm 37+5, the last MW appointment I had I was told that the baby is back-to-back. His head is down.

For the past couple of days whenever he kicks/ punches or moves, there is (for want of better words) some fanny fluttering going on, sometimes quite sharp. Other times it feels like a bubbly sensation, almost like there's trapped wind down there Blush

Could this mean labour is imminent?

I'm going to lurk around here, because I am interested in the answers. I've also been getting the twinging , slightly stingy fluttery movements really really low down practically on top of my cervix. (I'm 36 weeks.) Had one in the supermarket today that made me stop and stand still!

My midwife reckons mine is 4/5 engaged (36 weeks) but can't say I can feel the different. Mine has been regularly pummelling my cervix for weeks though...

First time round i was engaged, softened and 3cm dilated by 37.5 weeks. Had no clue. But then maybe i'm just not that 'in tune' with my body!
