Does anyone know if you should refrain from eating all nuts when pregnant or only peanuts?

I believe it is predominantly peanuts, and other nuts are okay if eaten infrequently. Also family history is relevent - i.e. need to be more cautious if lots of immediate families suffer from allergies.

Meant to say lots of 'immediate family members'

I have to confess that I have never abstained from eating nuts (incl peanuts) during either of my pregnancies. DS is addicted to peanut butter and has been since he was six months old.

I wouldn't have given it to him but he pinched a piece of my toast with PB and positively wolfed it down.

Bad mummy award for me here...

found this hope it helps.

Thanks handlemecarefully. DS suffers from excema and mild asthma so I guess I had better refrain. Isn't it always the things you crave you can't have!!

I ate nuts quite often when I was pregnant,I thought you only had to avoid them if you had a family history of nut allergies.

Anyway my son has excema and a nut allergy, which i probably blame myself for .However my allergy specialist reassured me that it had no relevance at all.Don't know if she was just trying to make me feel beter though!

If I got pregnant now I would avoid them.
