Maternity jeans help needed :(

I have now tried on jeans from Top Shop, H&M, Asos and Seraphine with absolutely no luck! Are there any other good and not too pricey brands out there? Am getting a little depressed about it tbh - I live in my jeans and am down to the last pre-pregnancy pair that fit, but they look rather scruffy now and do nothing for my self-confidence. At 28 weeks I haven't even put on that much weight - it shouldn't be so hard to find decent jeans!!

What was wrong with the maternity jeans you tried? Have you looked at New Look?

Im seriously jealous thatvyou can get into normal jeans- I haven't put much weight on but have a mahosive tummy!

HTH.

Agree with Tiredemma, got all mine from there for all three pregnancies. Stupidily threw them out after DC2 then had surprise DC3. Found the over the bump style from next really comfy.

PrincessKitKat · 16/11/2013 17:22

What's up with the other brands OP?
I have problem chunky legs... Hmm

I've bought a black over-bump pair from mamas& papas and blue under bump from red herring at debenhams.

Prefer over bump myself.

Cariad007 · 16/11/2013 17:41

Top Shop were all too short and the others just didn't fit right - I seemed to be between sizes, which is so annoying! JoJoMamanBebe might be my next stop as I was looking at their site just now and it looks like they have a good range. It's so frustrating that most brands now do maternity clothes online only - I much prefer trying on stuff in a store.

Funny, I imagined that I'd prefer the under bump style but I find over more comfortable and it seems to give a smoother line under tops. I guess there's also the option of those false zipper things you can add to your regular jeans - has anyone tried those?

matalan?

Anothermrssmith · 16/11/2013 17:49

Next are great for maternity jeans, only problem is most stores don't seem to stock the maternity range. I got two pairs with the elastic panels when I was about 13 weeks and because they're adjustable they'll last me until i give birth and after again. Personally found the sizing a bit on the big side (and usually find next small) but I've just done them up pretty much as tight as they'll go and they're fine.

Under £30 a pair as well.

christmas2excited · 16/11/2013 17:51

I found a delicious pair of boot cut under the bump (but with over the bump stretchy elastic) jeans from verbaudet online. Quite cheap as well. They have lasted very well.

ccsays · 16/11/2013 17:55

I got all mine from New Look online. Over the bump, super cheap, super comfy. Plus they come in a variety of lengths, which is good for a short arse like me.

barebranches · 16/11/2013 17:59

mine are new look. very comfy!

tgamble13 · 16/11/2013 18:09

new look under bump best for me have two pairs love them Smile

Cariad007 · 16/11/2013 18:11

Thanks, I will give New Look a try then. Wonder if any of their large stores on Oxford St stock maternity clothes?

OP posts:
Brandnewmamma · 16/11/2013 18:12

New Look are the way to go. Good colour, lots of lengths. I don't know hat I would have done without them. Cheap too.

greentshirt · 16/11/2013 18:17

I've got some primark ones but they tend towards bagging at the knees. Tried to size down but there was no stock in store so im yet to completely recommend them!

Are the Topshop ones really that crap? I wear their Leigh skinnies all the time so I was hoping to just change over. I had a nightmare returning some see through maternity leggings to topshop this week (see through doesnt count as being faulty apparently) so reluctant to buy anything else from there!

cantthinkofagoodone · 16/11/2013 18:23

Try braces under your top to keep them up & over bumpare bbetter.

Gap
Peacocks

Cariad007 · 16/11/2013 18:23

I am 5'9 with most of my height in my legs so need a 33 or 34 inch length, which makes it even trickier! Top Shop did seem particularly short though - probably only a 30/31 inch leg.

OP posts:
greentshirt · 16/11/2013 18:32

Topshop do longer length online Cariad. im 5'10 so any type of trouser/jean is a problem for me anyway without carrying a bump around too! I was really surprised that for once Primarks crap quality standards worked for me, their 32" was plenty long enough for me and I have to have a 36 usually!

Cariad007 · 16/11/2013 18:35

Wait, Primark do maternity clothes now? I didn't know that! I don't usually shop there but for stuff I'm only going to wear for a few months (I hope!) I can make an exception.

OP posts:
Cariad007 · 16/11/2013 18:36

(Should prob add that the reason I don't shop there is not because I'm a snob but because their stores are so rammed and the queues for the tills and fitting rooms so long!)

Only jeans I think (havent seen anything else) They are only £11 a pair so worth a try

Beccadugs · 16/11/2013 18:41

I don't think any of the Oxford street Hugh street shops do maternity. Had a very frustrating time there.
Didn't try tr H&M by Oxford circus and don't think I tried new look, by the other H&M, DPs and Gap were maternity free!

firstimer30s · 16/11/2013 18:43

Got mine from gap in the sale - beautiful and comfy.
Got over bump and wore them with a big stretchy belt until my tummy was big enough to hold them up!

buttercupski · 16/11/2013 18:43

I'm also 5'9, Cariad007 and found that with Gap's sexybootcut under the bump jeans I didn't even need their long size - regular was fine. I've been living in them since about week 14 or 15 (am week 24 now) and they were great to begin with but, as my bump's got bigger, they seem to be slipping down a bit and I keep having to hoik them up. I think Gap do over the bump in the same style, though, so I may try those next. Make sure you get Gap's 30% off offer for first time email subscribers (plus free deliver and returns, I think).

Beccadugs · 16/11/2013 18:44

High street not Hugh street! Blush
