im 38+3 with dd1.
I have a nine year old son from a previous.
while im unbelievably exited im also feeling a bit sad.
son and I are very close and have always been able to spend lots of time doing stuff together especially during the school holidays such as swimming, cinema, days out, baking etc.
just feeling a bit sad that I wont really have the time to do this much anymore due to the impending arrival of dd1.
my oh works full time and son is at his dads most weekends so really wont have much one on one time with him at all.
how do any of you find the time for first children when more come along?
any tips welcome.

I can't advise you on how to make time for an older child, as DS1 was 20months when DS2 arrived, but I do remember worrying before the birth and being sad about the fact that DS1 wouldn't be the baby any more; i think its a natural feeling. It all worked out fine in the end and i love DS2 just as much as DS1, but for a few weeks there i couldn't imagine loving another baby! Now expecting DC3 in a couple of weeks and i'm worrying again about how my big baby will take it!
With an older child I guess you just have to include DS in everything and encourage and reward him for helping with the baby, and just make sure you put aside some quality one-to-one time with him, even if only in 5 minute chunks, or a chat on the sofa, or when you kiss him goodnight; make sure he has time to tell you what's on his mind etc. And when you do get some free time/help with the baby, schedule in and stick to some treat-type plans like cinema/swimming/zoo....
Again, no experience of this myself but I think he'll be ok as long as you are aware of his feelings, which you obviously are! good luck!
