Smells!

Pregnancy always seems to induce bloodhound nose with me and this time round I'm finding I'm dreading going home. We live in a slightly damp/musty smelling rented house and if it's not the hall smelling damp or stale it's the kitchen smelling of stale food. I've had really persistent nausea so far and the smells ain't helping!

Any tips on what I can do to minimise them please?

I've tried to keep the place ventilated by leaving windows open, and keep leaving dishes of bicarb or coffee grounds around but it's not helping much. Not a big fan of chemical scents and air freshened either.

Could you Eat mints or similar to mask the smell?

Thanks for the suggestion but I really need something to remove the smells (I can't go round eating mints 24/7!)

I was the same, in the end I bought an oil burner and burnt peppermint oil for 3 months. This was the only thing that worked. Everything else we did didn't mask the smell, I can report at around 22 weeks my bloodhound nose calmed down although the fridge can still tip me over the edge!

I carried half a lemon in a ziplock bag in my handbag as I had to walk past a bin store everyday. Gross. In the end I found some lemon verbena perfume in Occitane which did the same trick and was easier than the lemon!
