Good books on childbirth

Can anyone recommend a sensible book on childbirth? I read a thinking woman guide to birth which to put it mildly horrified me. Most of books I have seen so far have extremes just go for natural birth it is the most amazing experience you can have. It is not exactly true. I want something more factual which will allow me to make informed choices rather than be pushed in one direction or another. Plus most of the books don't talk about c-section, except how horrible it is for a woman. Thank you!

Nothing but positive birth stories, irrespective of how the birth took place - natural, CS, foreceps, whatever.

And excellent, practical hospital bag suggestions!

Blooming Birth , you can buy second hand on amazon. I bought my second copy for dc3s arrival as I gave away my last copy and know how brilliant it was (2 easy labour/water births)

First time parent by Luvy Atkins - seemed a good balance between facts and common sense.

But don't buy - your local library should have all of these in - then you can have a proper read through a few of them

Ina Mays guide to childbirth is a must read.

It covers pre-birth too IIRC - but like I said - go and check out a few from your library and you'll be able to properly decide if there is one you like more than any other.
