Congratulations on your pregnancy Smile

I also had a bit of brown discharge at around 6 weeks pg and also at around 12 weeks (in fact some the day after my 12 week scan along with mild aches!)

I asked my midwife and she said it was very common - usually from the cervix.

I was worried too but pleased to say I'm 37+6 weeks now and all is well Smile

Have you had a scan yet? Either way I would give the midwife a ring so she can reassure you x

I'm not certain as I never got it but it sounds like it could just be spotting since you say it's just a tiny bit. I don't know though if you get spotting as late as 12 weeks, like I say I never got it, but I know spotting is pretty common in early pregnancy and lots of people i know had it.

Also fresh blood is red so brownish would be old blood so I wouldn't imagine it's something to worry about but I would definitely call your midwife if you are concerned, they won't think it's a daft question (you should have heard some of the things I asked at 12 weeks lol) and it will put your mind at ease.

I do think it will just be spotting hun but hopefully somebody else with more experience will be along shortly Smile Thanks x

I've had a few episodes of spotting brown blood and losing red blood too throughout this pregnancy (now 18 weeks) and it scares the hell out of me each time (like you I've had previous miscarriages) but every time I've been to get checked out the baby has been fine and the doctor's have repeated the fact that unless you're losing lots of bright red blood and having terrible (barely able to stand up) pains then there's nothing to worry about. Easy for them to say!
I know it often happens after women have had ...(cough)...marital relations the day before, and some women find they get a bit of bleeding around the time that their period would be due and in some cases there just isn't any reason for it. If you don't get any other bleeding I'm sure you'll be fine until Thursday but it may help your piece of mind to go and get checked out before then. x

Thanks chilliesbopper, and izziecal im going to ring the midwife as soon as they open, its so terrifying, you cant help worrying and turning into a paranoid monster! :0( i was a little shocked because didnt think you did get spotting this late which made me think the worse, but ill try not to worry and wait to see what the midwife says. Thanks for replying and your kind words xx

I had brown spotting at 10 weeks, I had a scan coz id had 2 mc previous and it was fine, it turned out to be a small bit of old blood from implant what took a while to get out. Now 31+3 Smile

onedogandababy · 11/11/2013 08:57

See if your local hospital has an early preg unit (epu or epau) that you can self refer to. If so, you can just go along and they will check you out.

If it's any consolation, some pregnancies are like this, with my dd I had spotting from 6-10 weeks and then almost every 4 weeks up to having her. Also agree with pp that brown/pink is usually old blood and not as significant as red bleeds.
Smile
