Hello,
I'm 40+5 today and have woken up feeling wiped out which I'm just assuming is normal as still having to do everything as usual, school run, cleaning etc but I'm starting to feel anxious!

I went to hosp yesterday for a trace doing just to check baby, glad I did as they said baby was a bit lethargic and heart rate was low compared to my last trace, stayed on monitors for over an hour to get them a satisfying reading. They said that I wasn't at any risk at all yet but to keep a VERY close eye on movements and go straight back if concerned.

I'm esp anxious as with my son I had a crap placenta and cord and how he survived on that if you'd have seen it I have no idea, just hoping this baby has a better one with being overdue and that it is still working sufficiently.

My son always measured small for dates tho and this baby is spot on so I'm hoping that is a good sign.

I am seeing consultant later today to check me over and think they may offer a sweep, would u guys recommended having one done?? I never had to with my son.

Thank you x

I'm not medical but I think it sounds like they should be monitoring you pretty regularly. I'd prob go back again today to put my mind at rest if I were you.

I hope baby comes soon!

Thank u these are my thoughts too, they seem to have just left me to it kind if thing, hubby is coming to appt this aft so he will defo raise our concerns. I don't want anything going wrong when we have made it this far. I def want to be out back on monitors and have a thorough check over, thanks again x

Have they talked about an induction date? Round here it is 40+10 so I'm surprised you aren't booked in...

If your cervix is suitable (theyll tell you at your examination) I'd go for the sweep. They aren't that effective but they are very low risk so worth a go if you are getting anxious.

Just go into the day assessment if you are at all worried about movewments.

Haven't been given an induction date as of yet, maybe they will give me that at consultant appt today?? I will ask if they don't mention it. Think I will get the sweep if offered, I mean a lot of people get them so they mustn't cause any harm. I've been told they are happy for people to go up to 12 days over but I'm not happy with that due to my history. Will just have to ask a lot of questions today. Thanks for ur reply

I think that your concerns are right, similar thing happened to me and I went back to hospital every day for monitoring. It was a pain but made me feel much more confident. I went to 40+14 - and had to be induced in the end as DS' heartbeat was starting to drop. And if you are worried at all, even in the evening /night, just go in and ask to be monitored.

Just to warn you though, it's not always possible for midwife/consultant to do a sweep - this can only happen if the cervix is already soft. It shouldn't be a problem with your second, but I had three attempts of sweeps with first pregnancy and they just couldn't reach the cervix or perform the sweep. Please let us know how you get on.

Hi everyone, have had a sweep, said cervix is very soft and they would be surprised if I don't labour tonight by myself without intervention!! But have booked me for induction tomorrow if I don't just to be on the safe side. Everyone has been lovely too, haven't had to scream and shout to get myself heard at all, lovely appointment all round. Just waiting for another trace now then back home to wait! Thank u for support ladies and will hopefully be holding our little one soon enough xx

Lovely to hear! Good luck!

Good luck OP!

They kept me in after the trace as I was contracting and was 3+ Centimetres dilated, was quite a surprise. But come home now to wait it out and see how it goes, hopefully baby will be here by morning! And if not at least I'm going for induction, let's see what the night brings
