Waxing and stretch marks...

I'm having my section next week and have booked in to have a bikini wax before, the thought of being shaved by a midwife is not appealing, or the quick regrowth through the section as it heals.

I do however have a lower tummy full of horrible itchy stretch marks. Can I still get waxed or is it going to tear my skin to shreds? I haven't been waxed for years if that makes any difference too.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Not sure what the best thing to do is!

I wouldn't get a wax before a c section - the itching of regrowth lasts far longer after waxing than after shaving!!

Oh really?! Damn I thought that was being sensible! I didn't want lots of hair either because of all the bleeding for days afterwards. Would you really just shave? My hair grows back so quickly I'm worried about it in the scar.

I don't get any itchy regrowth with waxing but always get it with shaving. I vote wax.

I'm only 11 weeks but off for a wax today, I'm planning on doing it all the way through as this pregnancy has turned me into some sort of gorilla with extra hair.

I vote wax too, never had any itching when it grows back, it's shaving that itches like crazy if you aren't used to it!

Oh gosh I'd go for a wax too. I don't really get itchy re growth with waxing either where I feel like my skin is on fire with shaving.

Wax.

They will hold your skin really taut so it will be fine.

LittlePeaPod · 07/11/2013 19:34

I vote wax. I never get any itchy re-growth when I wax and re-growth takes longer to come back (2-3weeks). If I shave its awfully itchy and grows back within a week.

Thank you so much ladies, waxing it is! Will brave it this afternoon!
