Scan at 5 weeks, no baby seen :-( Anyone else had this!!!

I collapsed today at work in pain, was rushed to EGU, Had vaginal scan, no baby seen in womb but lining thick. Bloods done Hcg was 1670, Progestorone 118.5. Need bloods again in 48 hours. The pain was caused by cysts on my right ovary. Has anyone else had a scan this early with no baby seen???? I'm having another one next week xxxx

The baby is so tiny then - I remember having one at 8 weeks and they were surprised to find something, and even then it was so small that I couldn't actually see anything myself. So you shouldn't worry :)

At 5 weeks I only had a sac and yolk! Next scan I had embryo!! Take time off - look after yourself!!

Thanks for reply, I had early scans last time, but can't remember how many weeks I was when Pregnancy sac seen. They have said ?ectopic, but said my progestorone levels are to good to indicate that! Confused :-(

I had a scan at 5+4 recently which showed sac, yolk and fetal pole of 1 mm, no HB. I had to have an early scan to rule out ectopic before starting clexane and that was the earliest point they expected to be able to see anything at all, so hopefully next week you will be able to see the sac in the right place.

I've heard that the earliest you can see anything through a scan id shen your HCG is over 2000. It's supposed to double every two days so in a day or two you may be something in there! Good luck!

Had the same - no baby seen - however said baby is now slurping yoghurt across the table from me. Hold on until next week and good luck!

I've had an ectopic, and the fetus wasn't visible at 5 weeks with any form of scan, abdominal or trans-vaginal. I ended up needing treatment anyway, as the baby was very much there despite not being visible on the scan - it was dangerous.

A clear sign of an ectopic is low HcG levels which never rise or fall - if your levels are normal and rising then you're fine, don't worry. Mine were very, very low and just not altering. Please don't worry about that, they are so cautious over ectopics for obvious reasons. They wouldn't rule that out unless certain.

5 weeks is miniscule - remember that 3 weeks ago you had an egg meet a sperm!

I had a mc at 5wks + 4 and they wouldn't scan me as they said that nothing can really be seen before 7 weeks - at least nothing definitive.

Try not to worry too much - your hcg levels sound good - hopefully they continue to rise. x

your dates could be out. If ovulation/implantation happened late it could be far too early to see anything. Try not to worry yet. easier said than done

This happened to me last week, my next scan was this Tuesday coming! But at this very moment I am actually losing my baby (no professional confirmation as of yet but the amount of blood n clots is enough for me) so I'm bk for anothe scan tomorrow, but that's just my story, I know plenty of people who have had a scan at five weeks and nothin showed, two weeks later there was a baby! I never had any bloods took though! Try to stay calm take it easy and hopefully baby will make an appearance! (Please don't let my events scare you, as long as you have no pain and bleeding things should be fine ! Good luck

Carmen87 I've very sorry to hear that hun, it's a terrible experience to go through, I've had 2 m/c in the past. My hcg has gone from 1670 on Tuesday to 3823 today, so hopefully OK. Thanks again ladies xx

Yes, I had a scan at about 6 weeks (severe pain on one side and had been bleeding) and there was nothing at all to be seen. Had to go back about 10 days later ... they didn't offer to do any blood tests ... there was the little embryo, shining like a tiny star. One of the most memorable moments of my life!
