When I had DD 3 years ago I was induced so I never experienced any labour pains until I was hooked up to a drip and then it just went from nothing to full on contractions. This time I am now 38 weeks pg with DC and I seem to be having pains. I have to admit it is all very confusing!

I was very uncomfortable and achey on Sunday and in the evening I had pains that felt a bit like contractions (milder than 3 yrs ago - more uncomfortable than all out painful). I went to bed on Sunday thinking I wouldn't sleep but I did and woke up feeling fine on Monday. Felt fine all day yesterday (in fact decorated the spare room/DD's new room) but this morning woke up feeling like I did on Sunday. As DD was in nursery I got to lie down all morning and the pain went away. I soon as I start moving around the 'contraction' type pain comes back.

What the heck is going on? Is it really like this of 2 - 4 weeks? Is there any logic to thinking that the pains come when I do lots so if I just carry on through the pain and don't sit down then I can will on the labour....?

I was the same as you, induced with the drip with DC1 and natural labour with DC2. I had pre-labour contractions on and off for about 2 weeks before it actually started...like you a rest seemed to settle everything! There was no doubt when I was in actual labour though, a show, then contractions about 3-5 mins apart then waters went a couple of hours later, all textbook. It's a bit confusing and you keep thinking "this is it" then nothing, but it all sounds positive and like you will go into labour naturally this time. Hope the baby doesn't keep you waiting too much longer!

im feeling exactly like this toowit.
im 37 weeks tomorrow.
had quite strong pains last night like constant bad period cramps.
could barely walk as they had spread to my pelvis and thighs.
just as I thought 'this is it' they started to subside.
still not right today though and a bit crampy and achey.
my first pregnancy wasn't like this either.
I hardly had a single ache or pain, woke up with what I thought was a dicky tummy early hours Tuesday morning and was cuddling my son by 4.30pm the next day.
all this stop and start malarkey is so confusing!

Thanks comfy, that is reassuring! Considering I was 2 weeks late time the count down this time feels worse because it actually feels like something is happening so I am waiting. Last time I felt absolutely fine so just got on with stuff....until I admitted to hospital for the induction. Could certainly do without that again!

In the nicest possible way it feels better thay someone else is going through something similar melonman!

It is quite infuriating to think that this might go on for 2 weeks though.....
