Hi all,

Does anyone know if when your scanned at 34 weeks & the placenta hasn't moved, are you then booked for a C-Section? Or do they give it another couple of weeks to move?

Thanks

Michelle

I imgaine if it hasn't moved they will book you in for a C-section...I'm in the same boat and hoping that by my 24 week scan (which is in 4 weeks time) I will be in the all clear.

Sorry, typo - meant to say 34 week scan not 24!

I got booked in for a c section at my 32w scan. I started bleeding 4days later and had DS3 by emergency section :)

I got booked in after my placenta hadn't moved at my 36 week scan. I think if it is still covering/low by 34 they will know it isn't going anywhere!

Thank you all for your replies.

Just eager to know if we'll have the C-Section date booked that day, for in a couple of weeks time or if we have to go back - I'm so excited to meet this little one, but if I'm honest a C-Section scares the hell out of me.

We shall see :) xx

FWIW, for low-lying placenta, I had a scan at 32 weeks, then 36 weeks, and they want me to do another next week at 38 weeks before deciding whether or not to do a c-section.

I guess that's because the placenta isn't covering any of my cervix and has been improving. At 32 weeks, a bit was below the baby's head, but at 36 weeks it was only next to the head.

I think it depends on how much your placenta was covering at 20 weeks. Mine was partial, but has still caused me bleeds so I have had a few more scans as a result and it seems to be moving, slowly. The judgment day will be my 36 weeks. If it hasn't shifted by then, I assume it will be a cs for me and it will be booked there and then.

I'm having a 35 week scan for the same reason, and at my hospital they will give me a date for CS that day if still needed. However I know at least one person who went in on the day of their section, had another scan and was told it had moved so was sent home to wait for natural labour!

Im in the same boat..

Had a rescan at 32 weeks and it hadn't moved, now having one on Monday at 34 weeks and seeing consultant on Wednesday so hope they will make a decision then!

can't stand all this waiting! :)

I had placenta praevia with both DC 2 and 3. Unfortunately I was already admitted with both before the 34 week scan.
