I'm 17 weeks 1 day pregnant, and I don't feel pregnant at all! I have suffered a m/c in April 2013 and I am terrified incase I have had a silent one,

I am not showing and I don't know if I have felt baby move or not if I have it's not as it was with my little boy, I'm so worried,

I had my 12 week scan and was told I was 13 weeks 3 days so was yay over the worst part and everything was fine my little bear was having a party inside me, was so sweet to see,

But I have spoken to my mum who informed me that a neighbour of hers had a miscarriage at 20 weeks went to see scan and no heart beat and I'm not TERRIFIED!!!

I have my midwife appt on Thursday to hear heart beat but I'm scared so scared! My partner is sadly away down south on a training course so I'm doing this alone with my 3 year old. And I'm scared!

When I lie down on my back I thought I ha a bump but I am not sure my tummy is a little bit hard just below my belly button,

I just wanted to know is it normal not to look pregnant at 17 weeks! Help please

I didn't get a bump until I was 22 week (although hardness is good!) and I didn't really feel baby move until 20 weeks either...

Try not to panic!

Julietee · 05/11/2013 10:50

Yes it's very normal. Don't freak out! Your chances are, statistically, incredibly high of everything being just fine. Seriously. I was also worried and I nearly cried when I heard the heartbeat at my 16 week appt!

Pretty soon you'll be able to feel kicks and that's a whole new thing to worry about :)

Julietee · 05/11/2013 10:50

Also, don't listen to other people's horror stories. They stick in people's minds exactly because they are rare. They do not apply to you.

ChicaMomma · 05/11/2013 11:00

i cant believe your mum told you that story, seriously...

That is an extreme edge case, at this stage of your pregnancy the odds are incredibly high (98%??) of success. Please dont worry, everything will be fine.

Babysealion · 05/11/2013 11:03

Don't worry you might have an anterior placenta, where your placenta is at the front creating a cushion between you and baby. I was worried for my 20 week scan as I hadn't felt any movement whatsoever and I know quite a few ladies who are pregnant at the minute.
One of them is about 4 weeks behind me and I remember being 21 weeks and hearing her talking about how hard her baby was kicking her and feeling insanely jealous that I hadn't got that yet. I didn't feel any movement until 22 weeks. Like Chica said, the odds are very much in your favour now. Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy. :)

Try not to worry. At 17 weeks your bump is below your navel, its level with your navel at around 20 weeks. Lie down with a pillow under your back so it's arched and have a feel. I have an anterior placenta and wasn't told about it at the 12 week scan. (I only know because ive had further testing) I have only felt movement in the last week and I am 22 weeks on thursday. Ive got straight from nothing to full on kicking and wriggling. And at 17 weeks I too felt not pregnant. sickness had worn off, I had loads of energy and nothing ached. Try and enjoy it if you can, youll soon be groaning and creaking around with the rest of us! Wink
If your 12 week scan was ok, then the chances of anything going wrong are very very slim.

As all the others have said, I was in EXACTLY your shoes - got to the stage I was just resigned to having lost the baby, it was so bad.

Horror stories are just that - ignore them.

I still don't look that preggo in some clothes (am 31 weeks) and people don't notice bump until I stand up sometimes. I didn't feel movement until 23-24 weeks. Now its constant. I didn't believe it would change as fast as it has, but within a few days of the first kick, all hell broke loose down there.

Second trimester is when you essentially don't feel pregnant - it's ace. I look back now with fond memories of stressing out about not being pregnant enough. Actually, some days, sitting down (no back/pelvis ache), I can still forget. Until I go to stand up Grin

Don't panic, if you can help it.

I didn't get a bump until 19 weeks and then boom within a week nothing fitted. I didn't feel baby kick until well into back end of 24 weeks, really really late, I had an anterior placenta but they didn't tell me that until near the end.

My none moving, none bump showing baby is now 8 months old :)

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 05/11/2013 12:45

FWIW, Im still wearing my normal clothes right now too. x

Snobble · 05/11/2013 13:47

Dont worry im 19 weeks today and i have no bump and i havent felt anything either. Im really stressing now and dont have my 20wk scan for 8 more days.

Its natural to worry but i feel your concern. I'm sure everything will be fine and all our worrying will be for nothing :-)

jemimastar · 05/11/2013 14:20

I think your mum is so insensitive to bring this up especially knowing your history and how anxious you’ll be. I have had friends do the same with me- lovely.
Hearing peoples horror stories has really not helped me during this pregnancy either. I’m now 36 weeks. While threads on kick counts etc. are great and I feel incredibly upset, sorry and sympathise with the women who lost babies, hearing so many horrific stories stuck in my mind and meant I’ve not ever really relaxed this entire pregnancy. I also have an anterior placenta so movement is sporadic and never as blatant as so many women describe with theirs.

All we can do is remind ourselves statistics/reality is on our side, stay happy, safe, healthy, buy a Doppler and let this reassure you, from 28 weeks count your kicks and focus on the positive!

Hotmad · 05/11/2013 14:52

Hey there, try not to worry..... I was and I'm sure most mums find the early weeks quite stressy..... I didn't have a bump until at least past 24-28 weeks, hell, people are surprised now when i say I'm preggers and I'm 38 weeks today!! Lol. I certainly didn't feel movement until say 22 weeks and even the it was not often, found out I had a anterior placenta which means at front and higher up..... So I think that added to me not feeling much. Now she doesn't stop wiggling and booting me in the ribs! Try to relax and think positive.... Your gonna be fine!!!

Thanks everyone it's really nice to hear I'm not alone, I think I'm just wanting this baby so much I'm so worried incase something happens, I can't wait till Thursday to discuss with my midwife how I'm feeling, I am having some pains in my tummy and have read this is normal and can be stretching of the uterus but I'll discuss it all with my midwife I can't wait to hear heart beat and I'm so happy I can share this moment with my 3 year old, sad that my partner isn't here but it going to buy a Doppler so we can her heart beat when ever, thank you all xxxx
